It was bad news for Donald Trump and the GOP.
Now that Joe Biden has quit, the race is fundamentally different.
And Kamala Harris defeated Donald Trump in this crucial fight.
Trump and Harris campaign post massive fundraising haulsÂ
Trump’s campaign and its authorized committees posted a massive $139 million raised in July.
The assassination attempt and Republican National Convention helped buoy Trump’s haul.
That left the campaign with $327 million cash on hand headed into the stretch run of the campaign.
Trump touted the achievement in a post on Truth Social.
“There has never been anything like the MAGA Movement. We raised $139 Million Dollars in July alone. We now have a whopping $327 Million Cash On Hand,” Trump wrote.
“Spectacular support from Great American Patriots who are donating to our Campaign for President of the United States and helping out in many other ways. Much work to be done, but I will always keep fighting for YOU,” Trump added.
“Our Country is failing, but we will turn it around, quickly, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump concluded.
But Harris’ campaign and its affiliates insisted they had more than doubled that fundraising take by announcing they took in $310 million.
“This is a history-making haul for a candidate who will make history this November,” Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez declared.
“The tremendous outpouring of support we’ve seen in just a short time makes clear the Harris coalition is mobilized, growing, and ready to put in the work to defeat Trump this November,” Rodriguez remarked.
Harris now has $377 million cash on hand for the final three months of the race.
Donors unite following Joe Biden dropping out of the raceÂ
The Democrat Party donor base helped force Joe Biden to end his campaign by refusing to donate money.
Campaigns don’t end because they run out of things to say.
Campaigns end because they run out of money.
That’s the situation Biden found himself in after the disastrous June 27 debate.
The June fundraising numbers showed Trump had $281 million cash on hand compared to $237 million for Biden.
Biden’s numbers only figured to get worse in July as fundraising fell off a cliff.
That caused the Biden team to read the writing on the wall and end his campaign before he suffered a humiliating defeat to Trump.
But the second that Biden exited the race, the geyser of money from Wall Street and Hollywood exploded for Harris.
Harris raised a record $200 million her first week in the race as Democrats experienced a sense of euphoria over having a new candidate.
The polls and the fundraising numbers show both the Trump and Harris campaigns on equal footing heading into the stretch run.
