Donald Trump has one ace in the hole that will put the Democrat Party in a bad way

Donald Trump will take over as President in less than a month.

The Democrat Party is laying the groundwork for resistance 2.0.

And Donald Trump has one ace in the hole that will put the Democrat Party in a bad way.

Trump’s agenda is a winning agenda

Democrats learned in November that the scorched earth total war posture of the last eight years is a political loser.

How the Left approaches Trump’s second administration is still up in the air.

But journalist Mark Halperin believes no matter what the Democrat Party decides, Trump still holds the upper hand.

Halperin told Newsmax that Trump began the transition naming his cabinet nominees at a record clip and then beating back opposition to conservative change agents like Pete Hegseth, giving him momentum.

But Halperin warned that Trump venturing into the government funding fight after House Speaker Mike Johnson bungled his negotiations provided an opening for Democrats to regain their footing.

“Look, for the first part of the transition, Donald Trump looked like a colossus. He seemed to have a lot of momentum. The Democratic incumbent president seemed to be either a negative for his party or a zero,” Halperin stated. “I think the caution for team Trump is what happened in the last few days, which is Donald Trump said, ‘Kill one bill, give me another bill, including raising the debt ceiling.’ And 30 Republicans said no.”

Trump’s winning hand

Halperin said Trump can rack up wins and fracture the Democrat Party simply by pursuing the agenda he campaigned on.

“Now, if they go for policy and they can convince Democrats that they’re on the wrong side of history on things like immigration, I think they could gain some momentum. This is not just a one off. What policy? One by one. Momentum matters a lot at the beginning of an administration,” Halperin continued.

Halperin was one of the few in the media that accurately reported on the state of the race, which was that Donald Trump was likely to win.

That’s because unlike his peers in the media, Halperin could see that Trump’s agenda of securing the border, ending the forever wars, and cutting taxes were issues that the majority of Americans supported.

“And if they can get some Democrats on board, all Republicans on board, I think unity could be the word of the day going into the fall. If they can’t, I think he’ll retreat back, as presidents do, to the base,” Halperin added.

Halperin argued that Democrats are fighting a losing battle on these fronts and that if Trump plays his cards right, he can enter the fall of 2025 with a head of steam while facing a dispirited and divided Democrat Party.

“What hangs in the balance is whether Donald Trump succeeds in focusing on the things he ran on: Immigration, cutting taxes, cutting regulation, ending the forever wars,” Halperin said. “Those aren’t partisan issues if they’re handled right. Let’s see if he keeps the focus there or moves on to other things,” Halperin concluded.
