Joe Biden’s time in office is finally up.
But Biden failed to end his term with his dignity intact.
And Joe Biden disgraced himself with this final un-American farewell.
Joe Biden’s shameful farewell address
11 Presidents have delivered farewell addresses to the nation.
None shamed the office of the Presidency and its inhabitants prior to Joe Biden.
But Biden’s farewell address will go down in history as the final embarrassment in what polls show Americans consider one of the worst presidencies ever.
Instead of an upbeat recitation of the previous four year’s accomplishments – Biden couldn’t take this route because there was little good in his term to discuss – Biden delivered a dark address that if taken literally would have meant Biden admitted failure.
Biden warned Americans about an “oligarchy” – a favorite term of socialist Senator Bernie Sanders – taking over America as tech titans Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos are set to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“That’s why my farewell address tonight, I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. And this is a dangerous — and that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultrawealthy people, and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked,” Biden began.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We see the consequences all across America. And we’ve seen it before,” Biden added.
Of course, Biden had no issue with an “oligarchy” when 134 billionaires donated to his 2020 Presidential campaign.
Biden also just awarded billionaire George Soros with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
But Biden’s hypocrisy was the least of his offenses in his farewell address.
Joe Biden throws down a marker on censorship
The one Presidential farewell address that went down in the history books was President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s speech in 1961 where he warned Americans of the dangers of the military industrial complex.
Joe Biden couldn’t pick up on that theme because Biden handed the military industrial complex a blank check for the failed war in Ukraine.
Instead, Biden tried to piggyback on that theme by warning of a tech “industrial complex.”
“I’m equally concerned about the potential rise of a tech-industrial complex that could pose real dangers for our country as well,” Biden stated.
Biden then ranted that Facebook fired its fact checkers and that censorship on social media was in retreat.
“Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling. Editors are disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact-checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit. We must hold the social platforms accountable to protect our children, our families and our very democracy from the abuse of power,” Biden continued.
An American President using his farewell speech to demand censorship of his political opponents is a new low in Presidential conduct.
