Trump Signs Two New Birthright Citizenship Orders Days After Losing at the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court struck down Trump's birthright citizenship order back in June.

Trump just answered that defeat with two brand new executive orders.

One of those orders targets something almost nobody saw coming.

The Supreme Court Said No, So Trump Signed Two New Orders

In June, the Supreme Court struck down Trump's original executive order limiting birthright citizenship in the case Trump v. Barbara.

Most presidents would have shelved the fight.

Trump signed two new orders instead.

The first order narrows who qualifies at birth, carving out children of hostile foreign agents, members of designated terror groups, and people acting on behalf of governments Washington does not consider friendly.

Those categories track historical exceptions the Court itself has recognized going back over a century.

Birth Tourism Is Officially Over

The second order targets something even more brazen – birth tourism.

For years, foreign nationals have flown into the United States on ordinary visitor visas for one specific reason: to give birth and hand their newborn instant American citizenship.

Entire businesses built themselves around arranging these trips.

Trump did not mince words about it: "We're making adjustments because it's very unfair. They're building businesses around birthright citizenship. That's not the way it was supposed to work. It's a disgrace."

Stephen Miller made the moment official on camera: "That practice of birth tourism is, as of this signing of this order, hereby banned."

Miller called the move "especially historic," saying it "ends what has been one of the gravest and most egregious abuses of the American system."

Expect the Lawsuits Within Hours

Judge James Boasberg has already been the go-to venue for blocking Trump's immigration orders, and legal challenges to these two are all but guaranteed.

That is the same script that played out after the first birthright citizenship order.

Democratic state attorneys general sued within days, and a federal judge blocked it before the ink dried.

Trump Turned a Legal Loss Into a Sharper Order

This fight goes back further than people realize.

The Supreme Court settled the core birthright citizenship question in 1898 with United States v. Wong Kim Ark, and that ruling has anchored the debate for well over a century.

What fires me up here is the birth tourism piece specifically, because nobody on the other side even tries to defend it on the merits.

Democrats will scream about the categories targeting alien enemies and foreign terrorist affiliates, but try finding one who will publicly defend flying in pregnant tourists to game American citizenship law.

They cannot, because there is no defense.

Trump lost at the Supreme Court in June and came back within weeks with a sharper, more targeted order instead of walking away.

That is the difference between a president who treats a legal setback as the end of the fight and one who treats it as round two.
