Travis Kelce is on top of the world.
Kelce is one of the offensive centerpieces of the Kansas City Chiefs team that won three Super Bowls, and he’s also dating pop superstar Taylor Swift.
And now Travis Kelce dropped this major news about retirement.
Travis Kelce details future plans
Travis Kelce is entering his twelfth season in the National Football League.
The subject of his future is up for debate especially after his brother Jason announced this offseason that he would retire at the age of 36.
Kelce is coming off an excellent season where he hauled in 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns.
In the Chiefs four playoff games Kelce caught 32 passes and scored three touchdowns.
Even though Kelce is 34 years old, he isn’t slowing down on the field.
In a press conference with reporters before the Chiefs OTA’s, Kelce stated that he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
“I’m gonna do it until the wheels fall off,” Kelce declared.
Kelce recently signed a two-year contract extension and he hinted he planned to at least play that deal out.
“Hopefully, that doesn’t happen anytime soon. I can definitely understand that it’s toward the end of the road than the beginning of it. I just gotta make sure I’m set up for after football as well,” Kelce continued.
“I really can’t put a time frame on it!” Kelce added.
Kelce still loves the game of football
Despite Kelce’s star exploding outside the game of football, Kelce explained that he loves the game just as when he was a kid and first discovered football.
“I love coming to work every single day,” Kelce declared.
“Obviously, I know there’s opportunities outside of football for me. I think you’ve gotta keep in perspective that I’m a little kid when I come in this building,” Kelce exclaimed.
Kelce turned into a pop culture star even before he began dating Swift.
Bud Light and Pfizer signed Kelce up as their pitch man, figuring his gruff Midwestern vibe and caveman playing style would win over conservatives skeptical of a woke beer company and the controversial COVID vaccine.
Kelce’s New Heights podcast with his brother Jason exploded as a popular show.
This spring, Kelce recently hosted a successful music festival in Kansas City.
Kelce could also easily go into broadcasting.
When Jason retired he was the most sought after new talent among NFL TV partners before eventually signing with ESPN to be part of the Monday Night Football pregame crew.
None of those opportunities even scratch the surface of what doors may open thanks to his relationship with Swift.
These are all questions for another day.
As long as star quarterback Patrick Mahomes lines up under center for Kansas City, the Chiefs will rank as a Super Bowl contender.
And as long as the Chiefs can win Lombardi Trophies, no one is going to want to willingly walk away.
