Lisa Murkowski Just Used Her Money to Try to Hex Ralph Norman’s Senate Campaign

Aug 18, 2026

Lisa Murkowski voted to convict Donald Trump during his historic second impeachment trial in 2021.

Now she is spending real money to stop the one candidate threatening the rules that protect her power.

Ralph Norman is calling out the Senate and Murkowski's money shows exactly why.

Ralph Norman Blasted the Senate for Fleeing Town on a Five-Week Recess

Ralph Norman sat down with Fox News and did not hold back.

"They ought to be ashamed of themselves," Norman said, describing senators who packed up for a five-week recess while the SAVE America Act sat dead in the water.

Norman told Fox News senators should hand over a portion of their salary to pay down the national debt while they enjoy the break.

He is not just venting on television.

Norman is the sitting congressman from South Carolina running to fill his late colleague Lindsey Graham's Senate seat, and he has made Senate dysfunction the center of his campaign.

On the debate stage last week, Norman said the Senate was where good legislation stalls and dies.

He has floated a talking filibuster, forcing any senator who wants to block a bill to physically hold the floor instead of killing it with a phone call.

Norman's frustration is not new.

He told Breitbart News this month that Kamala Harris and Senate Democrats want to win elections by fraud through their opposition to the SAVE Act's voter ID requirements.

Norman has spent his career in the House watching the Senate bury conservative priorities, and he has staked his campaign on forcing that room open.

Murkowski's Ten Thousand Dollar Check Landed Days Before the Primary

While Norman was on television demanding accountability, Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski was quietly writing a check.

FITSNews reported Murkowski donated ten thousand dollars to Darline Graham Nordone, the woman appointed to finish her late brother Lindsey Graham's Senate term.

FITSNews called Murkowski "the Republican in name only who has opposed Trump's America First agenda."

Nordone finished first in the August 11 special primary and heads into an August 25 runoff against Norman.

Trump has endorsed Nordone, and the fight over who represents the true America First lane in this race has only gotten louder since Murkowski's name showed up on the donor list.

But Murkowski did not write that check because of ideology.

She wrote it because of arithmetic, and the arithmetic is about power in the Senate, not who loves Trump more.

The Same Playbook Murkowski Has Run Against Conservatives for Twenty Years

Lisa Murkowski has spent two decades protecting the Senate exactly the way it operates right now.

She was the deciding vote that kept Obamacare alive in 2017 when Senate Republicans tried to repeal it using the same rules Norman is campaigning to dismantle.

The impeachment vote in the opening of this story was not a one-time break from her party, it was the same instinct on a bigger stage.

Every one of those votes protected the same thing, a Senate where committee chairs, seniority, and the filibuster decide who actually holds power.

Ralph Norman is running on tearing that structure down.

He wants senators to hold the floor if they filibuster, and he wants Trump's agenda forced to a vote whether Senate leadership likes it or not.

That is not a message Lisa Murkowski can afford to let win, regardless of who Trump has endorsed in this race.

Her ten thousand dollars is not really about Darline Graham Nordone at all.

It is an investment in keeping the Senate a place where senators like Lisa Murkowski still get to call the shots.

South Carolina voters have five weeks of recess to think about that before they head to the polls on August 25, while the senators who left town collect their paychecks and Ralph Norman keeps asking who is actually showing up to do the job.
