92 Year Old Grassley Silences Cory Booker During Explosive Kash Patel Hearing

Cory Booker once talked for 25 straight hours on the Senate floor just to break a record.

On Tuesday, the New Jersey senator got cut off in under five minutes by a 92-year-old man who had clearly had enough.

Chuck Grassley did not lecture Booker, did not ask him to yield, and did not wait for the cameras to catch a softer moment.

Grassley Ends The Show With One Question

Booker spent nearly four and a half minutes going after Patel with escalating insinuations, growing louder and more theatrical as the clock ran down.

Patel did not flinch.

When Booker's time expired and he kept talking anyway, Booker snapped at the director, "What a mockery you are."

Patel shot back instantly, "You are the biggest mockery in the United States Senate."

That was when Grassley, the committee chairman, had heard enough of both men and turned his attention squarely on Booker.

"Are you ready to shut up now?!" Grassley barked.

Booker had nothing left to say.

A Senator With A History Of Making It About The Show

This was not Booker's first brush with turning a Senate moment into a spectacle.

In April 2025, Booker held the Senate floor for more than 25 hours straight, breaking a 68-year-old record just to protest Trump administration policy.

Fox News described that marathon speech as "performance art of the cheesiest variety."

Eighteen months later, Booker was back at it, this time aiming his theatrics at an FBI director who has spent his tenure dismantling the machinery Senate Democrats relied on during the Russia collusion years.

Grassley opened Tuesday's hearing praising Patel's leadership and citing crime statistics under his watch.

Booker was not interested in the numbers.

He wanted a clip, and for four and a half minutes he built toward one.

Instead he got a chairman old enough to be his father telling him to sit down and be quiet on national television.

Patel Was Not Done Either

Patel did not let the hearing end the moment the gavel dropped.

That night he went on Hannity and let loose on the entire committee.

He called the Democrats' conduct "baseless personal attacks" carried out "like buffoons on Capitol Hill."

"We are not here for the cacophony of the United States Senate and the Democrats and their radical lunacy," Patel told Sean Hannity.

Patel had spent the hearing sparring with multiple Democrats, at one point telling Senator Peter Welch his line of questioning was a "charade of lies" and calling him a "complete and total fraud."

None of it rattled him the way it seemed to rattle Booker, who folded the moment Grassley raised his voice.

Booker Wanted A Viral Moment And Got A Different One

Booker built his brand on marathon speeches and viral confrontations, and he clearly walked into Tuesday's hearing expecting to author the headline himself.

Instead a 92-year-old Iowa farmer who has chaired Senate hearings since before Booker finished law school did it for him in six words.

That is the pattern with Booker's stunts going back to his 25-hour filibuster.

He manufactures the drama, banks on the base cheering him on, and rarely accounts for what happens when the other side simply refuses to play along.

Grassley did not raise his voice because he lost his temper.

He raised it because Patel had already made Booker look foolish, and the chairman decided the country did not need a rerun.

Democrats spent the Trump years insisting Republicans were the ones who could not handle oversight, and on Tuesday it was their own senator who got told to be quiet by the man running the committee.

But at the end of the day, Booker kinda had a point about Kash who many on the right view as a disappointment.
