Jen Psaki is one of the leading voices in the media trying to guide Democrats through the wreckage of the 2024 election.
But Psaki couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
And Jen Psaki was stunned by one top Democrat’s response to Kash Patel’s nomination.
Democrats demand the deep state conduct background checks on Trump nominees
Donald Trump knows cleaning up the FBI is job number one in draining the swamp.
To that end, Trump nominated Kash Patel to serve as FBI Director.
Patel’s already laid out an ambitious set of reforms, including firing top level leadership that weaponized the bureau against Donald Trump and closing down the Washington, D.C. headquarters.
Jen Psaki was worried that California Democrat U.S. Senator Alex Padilla didn’t instantly announce his opposition to Patel’s nomination.
The FBI is one of the institutions the Left took control over in the last ten years and Psaki was terrified that Padilla wasn’t promising to wage a scorched earth battle to protect the party’s turf.
Psaki confronted Padilla on her MSNBC show and asked what more he needed to know about Patel and if he would pledge to oppose his nomination as FBI Director.
“Oh, no, no, no!” Padilla frantically responded when asked if he was undecided on Patel’s nomination.
Padilla then claimed Trump could reverse course and pull Patel’s nomination, comparing it to Matt Gaetz’s failed bid to become Attorney General.
“Trust me, I mean, the fact that he’s a conspiracy theorist is just the beginning of this process. There’s still time for Donald Trump or the team around him to come to true sense, just as they did with Matt Gaetz, right? This is an equally offensive nomination,” Padilla added.
Padilla suggests FBI should torpedo Patel nomination
Padilla then declared that if Trump pressed forward with the Patel nomination that the FBI should conduct background checks on Patel and other Trump nominees.
“But if they insist on going forward, then we’re going to insist on the background checks. We’re going to insist on a very thorough and firm confirmation hearing. I know how I’m going to vote for someone who believes in conspiracy theories, denies the results of the 2020 election, and then says, I’m going to run the FBI by shutting down FBI headquarters?” Padilla continued.
The FBI tried to frame Trump as a Russian agent.
The FBI forced Twitter and Facebook to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story.
And the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate as part of the classified documents hoax.
The idea that Trump could trust a hostile and ideologically captured FBI to run background checks on his nominees is laughable.
But Padilla held out that the fight over FBI background checks could be enough to push Senate RINOs into opposing Trump nominees like Kash Patel.
“Are you kidding me? So that’s just for starters. What should not be lost in this conversation, Jen, is the role and test for Senate Republicans. How are they going to choose to handle these extremist nominations? Are they going to be loyal to their oath of office, loyal to the Constitution of the United States, or loyal to Donald Trump, and every time he says, kneel, they say how fast?” Padilla concluded.
