Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson visited the troops, and no one predicted what happened next

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the biggest movie star in Hollywood.

But Johnson is never one to forget who the real heroes are.

And Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson visited the troops, and no one predicted what happened next.

The Rock visits Walter Reed

Dwayne Johnson is the number one box office attraction in the world through his roles in the Fast and the Furious film franchise, the Jumanji films, and Disney’s Jungle Cruise.

“The Rock” is the 21st century heir to legendary action movie stars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Johnson visited Walter Reed Hospital to pay his respects to the actual heroes – the Americans who put their lives on the line as members of the U.S. military.

Walter Reed is where combat veterans go to receive treatment for their injury, and Johnson wanted to make sure these wounded warriors knew they had the thanks of the “People’s Champion.”

“A life changing day of spending time with our soldiers at WALTER REED MILITARY HOSPITAL,” Dwayne captioned the post.

“Looking our soldiers (and kids) – men and women – in the eyes and spending time with them as they battle thru their injuries and challenges – has a way of reminding us all what life is all about,” Johnson added.

Johnson recognized that all his fame, wealth, and glory are made possible because these selfless patriots are willing to sacrifice life and limb so everyone else can enjoy the fruits of the American dream.

“And how fortunate we are to live in freedom. Because of them. Thank you for your service,” Johnson continued.

“I will always support and fight for you and always have your backs- as you always have ours. An unforgettable day. Love you back. STAY STRONG,” Johnson concluded.

The Rock’s long-time connection to the military

Johnson is a well-known supporter and friend of the military.

Sometimes that works in his favor.

An hour before Barack Obama announced to the nation that SEAL Team Six successfully completed a mission to kill Al Qaeda mastermind Osama Bin Laden, Johnson posted a cryptic tweet hinting at the massive news that was about to break.

“Just got word that will shock the world – Land of the free…home of the brave DAMN PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

One year later, Johnson revealed he was one of the few people on the planet with the knowledge that the military carried out a successful mission to kill Bin Laden because his friends in the Navy SEALs were part of the mission and gave him a heads up on what happened.

“If I tell you that, I won’t have to ‘kill’ you, but I’ll have to behead you — no, I got my sources,” Johnson said in an interview with Moviefone. “I got friends in high places and low places. It was a very interesting day. . . . The individuals who were there were proud to let me know. I knew the president was going to give his speech; I thought he was going to give it at a certain time and so I thought, I think it’s appropriate that I tweet ‘I’m damn proud to be an American’ and keep it in that space without giving away too much information.”
