Deleted Fauci Emails Just Became a Huge Problem for His Assistant after Rand Paul Caught Her Bragging

Anthony Fauci pleaded the Fifth more than 100 times in front of Rand Paul's committee on July 29.

Paul has since dug up an email that Fauci's longtime assistant sent straight to her boss.

What she wrote is damning, and every Democrat on the committee voted to keep her from explaining it.

Paul Found the Email in Fauci's Government Computer Logs

Paul, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, laid it out on Just the News, No Noise on September 23.

"By looking at Anthony Fauci's logs that he was keeping on a government computer, we discovered that his assistant was bragging to him in one of the emails," Paul said.

According to Paul, the message read: "Hey, Dr. Fauci, I was able to destroy tons of your emails this weekend."

"Well, that's illegal," Paul added.

Willfully destroying federal records is a felony that carries up to three years in prison.

The assistant worked for Fauci from 2007 to 2022, including the months when the virus's origins were first being debated inside his office.

When Paul's committee subpoenaed her, she took the Fifth.

So Paul moved to grant her immunity and force her testimony.

"We'd like his assistant to testify about who gave her the orders to destroy records," he said.

Six of the Seven Democrats Who Killed Immunity Never Showed Up

The committee voted 8-7 on September 23, with every Republican voting yes.

Immunity needed a two-thirds majority, so seven Democratic no votes were enough to kill it.

Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire was the only Democrat who bothered to show up in person – the other six voted no by proxy.

"A majority of the committee voted to seek the truth. All Republicans voted to seek the truth," Paul said.

He is not backing down.

"She may have that right, but her silence does not end this investigation."

Paul is sending a letter to the Justice Department asking for prosecution and going after her records.

That vote matters because of the pardon.

Joe Biden's preemptive pardon, signed in his final hours in office, covers Fauci for anything from January 1, 2014, through January 19, 2025.

It does not cover his assistant.

She is the one person in this story who can still face federal charges, and the Senate vote just took away her best reason to talk.

Paul says the emails also point to "gain-of-function programs that we didn't know existed until we came across these emails."

He believes most of that research is "classified and done in the bioweapons or biodefense category, but they won't tell us."

Fauci's Inner Circle Already Has One Guilty Plea

Destroying Fauci's records is not a theory anymore.

In August 2026, longtime Fauci adviser David Morens pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge for hiding records from public records requests.

Morens is the man who wrote, "I learned from our FOIA lady here how to make emails disappear after I am FOIA'd."

He also wrote, "We are all smart enough to know to never have smoking guns."

FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X that Morens and his co-conspirators "agreed in writing to intentionally hide their communications from public view."

Morens is set to be sentenced on November 12.

Fauci himself told Francis Collins in a February 2, 2020 email, "Please delete this e-mail after you read it."

That was just weeks before COVID shut down the country.

The "FOIA lady," NIAID records officer Margaret Moore, told House investigators in 2024 that she would plead the Fifth too.

That makes three people in Fauci's orbit hiding behind the Fifth Amendment.

The assistant Democrats voted not to hear from worked beside Fauci for fifteen years – and she may know exactly who gave the order.

President Trump already cut off federal money for dangerous gain-of-function research in countries like China with his May 5, 2025 executive order.

Paul is trying to find out what else was running that nobody in Congress knew about.

The Justice Department does not need a Senate vote to make her talk.
