Barron Trump arranged podcast interviews that propelled Trump’s successful media strategy
In 2016, Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton by mastering social media.
In 2024, Kamala Harris played checkers with her limited, legacy media focused press strategy while Donald Trump played chess in recognizing that podcasts were the dominant platform to reach mass audiences of voters.
Patrick Bet-David is an entrepreneur who hosts a podcast popular with the type of anti-establishment voters that Trump sought to reach.
In an interview with Mediaite, Bet-David revealed that it was Barron Trump who set up Donald Trump’s appearance on the show.
“Barron calls us: ‘Hey, can you come to Mar-a-Lago? My dad would like to have dinner with you.’ I go to Mar-a-Lago, it’s him and his father. Barron was telling his dad, ‘You have to come on this podcast!’ Trump was like, ‘See, he’s got an eye, he always tells me which shows to go on,’” Bet-David recalled.
Bet-David’s YouTube channel boasts more than 300 million views.
That’s a number greater than every legacy media company other than Fox News and MSNBC.
Bet-David said Barron Trump understood that the center of gravity in the media landscape has shifted to podcasters like Joe Rogan, Theo Von, and other shows like his own.
Rogan draws 14,000,000 listeners per episode.
Trump’s interview with Joe Rogan amassed 45,000,000 views on YouTube in 24 hours.
Bet-David compared the cutting-edge media strategy that Barron Trump helped craft with Kamala Harris’ dated approach of only appearing on legacy media and relatively safe podcasts with small audiences.
“What does she do? She doesn’t do Rogan. She pays $100,000 to Call Her Daddy. Walks off from Bret Baier because he was being too pushy, and then they stopped that early. All of that shows weakness,” Bet-David added.
Of course, it later came out that Kamala Harris never went on Joe Rogan’s show because Rogan wouldn’t agree to restrictions on the format of the interview that would have allowed Kamala to control the topics discussed.
And Kamala stormed off the Bret Baier interview because her handlers called it to an early end as they watched her melt down under the only adversarial questioning she faced the entire campaign.
Bet-David warned anyone looking to run for President in 2028 that they better have a podcast strategy if they intended to run a serious campaign.
“But if you don’t go through podcasting, you’re not going to be competing in 2028,” Bet-David remarked.
MSNBC and CNN’s ratings plunged around 50 percent in the post-election period.

When asked if the legacy media would survive the turbulent waters it finds itself in, Bet-David compared the so-called “mainstream” press to other relics of the past that were once essential, but no longer exist today.
“How valuable is knowing the encyclopedia today compared to 40 years ago? How much more valuable is Google search now compared to what it used to be with Grok or ChatGPT? It’s night and day. What can Grok or ChatGPT do now? Anyone can make a picture and show anything, whereas before, it would take hours to create something like that. A lot of the things we used to value are now gone,” Bet-David concluded.
