The swamp wants to stop Donald Trump serving a successful second term in office.
It’s not just Democrats that want to gum up the works and stall the Trump agenda.
And a so-called “Republican” Senator set in motion this sinister plan to betray Donald Trump.
Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy is one of the establishment RINOs that could sabotage the confirmation prospects of Trump’s cabinet nominees.
Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Kash Patel are Trump selections to head key federal agencies where the deep state bedeviled Donald Trump in his first term.
Trump selected these anti-establishment outsiders to crack down on the rogue actors within these agencies that spent Trump’s first four years in office investigating him, trying to get him impeached and jailed, or trying to kneecap his Presidency with COVID mandates.
All Democrats are likely to vote against Kennedy, Gabbard, Hegseth, and Patel.
That means they can only afford to lose three GOP votes and win confirmation.
And Cassidy won’t commit to supporting any of Trump’s key nominees.
“I think for nominees, throughout my Senate career, it’s been one step at a time,” Cassidy told NOTUS regarding whether or not he intends to support Trump’s nominees.
Cassidy is Chairman of the Senate Health, Labor, and Education Committee.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Cassidy attacked Kennedy as “wrong” for wanting transparency in vaccine studies and safety.
“I will meet with him this coming week,” he said. “I look forward to the interview. I agree with him on some things and disagree on others. The food safety, I think ultra-processed food is a problem,” Kennedy began.
“Vaccinations, he’s wrong on, and so I just look forward to having a good dialogue with him on that,” Cassidy continued.
Cassidy’s political problems
Senator Cassidy is up for re-election in 2026.
Cassidy is already facing a primary challenge from State Treasurer John Fleming.
That’s because Cassidy voted to convict Donald Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax.
“Our Constitution and our country is more important than any one person. I voted to convict President Trump because he is guilty,” Cassidy said in a statement about his vote.
In an op-ed published in The Advocate, Cassidy regurgitated the big lie Democrats and the media spread about Donald Trump inciting an insurrection on January 6.
“To review, we know there was a calculated campaign to lie about the election; numerous lawsuits advertised as alleging fraud; pressure on state officials; a rally in Washington during the certification process; and direction from President Trump to march toward the Capitol where the mob broke in,” Cassidy wrote.
“His rhetoric and actions were clearly intended to prevent a peaceful transfer of power. Even as Vice President Mike Pence was being evacuated to a safe location by Secret Service agents because the mob was approaching the Senate chamber, President Trump was calling Senators trying to block certification,” concluded Cassidy.
Cassidy’s votes on Trump’s nominees will be a major clue of his 2026 intentions.
If Cassidy votes for Gabbard, Hegseth, Kennedy, and Patel then he plans to run for re-election.
But if Cassidy votes against these picks, it means he isn’t running for another term and will spend the next two years poking his finger in Trump’s eye out of spite.
