Trump’s plan to drive a dagger through the heart of woke
If Donald Trump’s electoral mandate means anything, it’s that the American people gave Trump wide latitude to rid the country of wokeism.
Trump showed he understands just how much political capital he holds on this front.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump held a meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo, a conservative activist who specializes in exposing woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in corporate America and higher education.
Rufo reportedly laid out a plan to expunge woke ideology from colleges and universities by withholding federal funding.
Watters interviewed Rufo who expanded on Trump’s plan to combat wokeism in schools.
Rufo told Watters that DEI was a serious problem as the amount of money in federal contracts from DEI programs exploded nearly 500 percent in Joe Biden’s four years in office.
“That’s exactly right. President Trump has the opportunity to do what we’ve done in Florida on a national scale. And I’ll give you two numbers to set the context. In 2019, in the first Trump administration, there was about $19 million of federal contracts with DEI language attached to them,” Rufo began.
Rufo said this gusher of federal money enabled an army of woke activists to infiltrate schools and brainwash students into thinking the United States is a racist country and to play racial politics on campus to help train the next generation of leftist foot soldiers.
“Last year, the Biden-Harris administration, that number was $1 billion,” Rufo added. “This is a multibillion dollar industry that has now thousands of federal employees practicing racism, demanding segregation, and thinking that the United States is a fundamentally racist country. The president could put a stop to that on day one. He can abolish DEI and restore colorblind equality once and for all.”
DEI as the gateway to the Deep State
Rufo said DEI programs were how the woke Left were able to capture institutions like the FBI, the State Department, and even the upper levels of the U.S. military.
Taming the Deep State meant pulling the federal funding for DEI programs on day one.
Rufo told Watters he believed Donald Trump was prepared to take that step.
“One of the greatest concentrations of the Deep State is in these DEI departments that have attached themselves at Treasury, at the State Department, at the FBI, in the U.S. military. Those jobs have to get shut down. Those programs have to get terminated on day one. That’s how the president can achieve his entire agenda. And I hope that he does it and we’re all here to support it,” Rufo added.
Watters compared DEI programs to the Trojan horse.
Rufo agreed, saying these programs were how leftist ideologues placed their top lieutenants at the highest levels of the bureaucracy which turned federal agencies into arms of the Democrat Party.
“Yeah, that’s 100% true. I mean, it really is at this point, the focus of ideology within the administration. And this has been growing for many decades,” Rufo continued.
Rufo laid the blame for the proliferation of DEI programs across the federal government at the feet of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
“It accelerated after 2020. It went crazy under the Biden-Harris administration, where they had two executive orders requiring every single federal department to double down on DEI,” answered Rufo. “There is a much better way to handle this,” Rufo explained.
But the good news is what one President does by executive order, the next President can undo.
And Christopher Rufo presented Donald Trump with a battle plan to undo wokeism in the federal government and universities.
