Ilhan Omar’s Husband Was Walking the Dog When One Question Made Him Lose His Cool

Oct 17, 2026

Federal agents carried boxes of documents out of Ilhan Omar's Washington home on October 12.

The Minnesota Democrat then dropped out of public view, and the rumors about where she went exploded.

When a reporter caught her husband walking the dog and asked one question, his answer was not a denial.

Tim Mynett Would Not Say Where His Wife Is

Tim Mynett was out with the couple's dog, Teddy, on the evening of October 14 when a Fox News Digital reporter caught up with him.

The question was simple.

Had Ilhan Omar left the country?

"You guys are annoying the hell out of all the neighbors around here, man," Mynett snapped.

That was it.

No denial.

No word that she was inside.

No word on where a sitting member of Congress was while federal investigators went through her family's records.

Viral posts had already claimed she fled to Morocco.

Nobody has produced a shred of proof for that claim, and Mynett had the perfect chance to kill it on the spot.

He let it ride.

Meanwhile, a congressional staffer was spotted hauling two big bags of Burger King into the house, and security was on site.

Just days earlier, Mynett had sounded a lot more confident.

"My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee," he told Fox News Digital, adding that he had no concerns.

Investigators Are Digging Through Omar's Immigration Paperwork

Homeland Security Investigations agents searched the home under a warrant approved by a federal judge.

The Justice Department then hit Omar's sister, Sahra Noor, and other relatives with grand jury subpoenas.

According to The New York Times, the question at the heart of the probe is whether anyone in the family lied on immigration forms.

Investigators are reportedly zeroing in on Omar's age and whether it was recorded wrong on the path to her citizenship.

Omar became a citizen in 2000 at 17, through her father's naturalization.

Investigators are also reportedly examining whether her late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, lied or left information off his immigration forms.

That matters because derivative citizenship rides on the parent's paperwork.

If the foundation was false, everything built on top of it is in play.

The New York Post reported that Omar's staff helped change her birth year from 1981 to 1982 on a Minnesota legislative website and on Wikipedia.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the goal is to build a case to strip her of her citizenship.

Omar calls the whole thing political intimidation and denies any fraud.

No charges have been filed.

The Money Trail Pirro Is Following

Omar's 2024 financial disclosure listed Mynett's business interests at somewhere between $6 million and $30 million.

Her office later amended the filing to list those interests at zero.

The explanation is that the original numbers counted total business equity and ignored the liabilities.

That is a swing of up to $30 million chalked up to a bookkeeping mix-up.

D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed her office is investigating those disclosures.

"There are several investigations going on," Pirro told Fox News.

Authorities have not said whether the money probe and the immigration probe are connected.

President Trump asked on Truth Social why Omar would "report a Net Worth of up to 30 Million Dollars" in the first place.

Washington Has Seen a Democrat Congressman Raided Before

Washington has watched this movie before with Louisiana Democrat William Jefferson.

FBI agents found $90,000 in cash stuffed in his freezer in 2005.

A jury convicted him in 2009, and he was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison.

The Trump Justice Department has also made clear that lying your way to citizenship is no longer a free pass.

A June 2025 memo ordered Justice Department lawyers to "maximally pursue denaturalization proceedings" whenever the law and the evidence support it.

Citizenship obtained through misrepresentation sits right on that priority list.

A Birth Year That Moved and a Disclosure That Swung By Millions

Omar built her career lecturing America about what kind of country it is.

Now federal investigators want to know how she got here.

She wants this to be about intimidation.

The record points to immigration forms, a birth year that shifted on public listings and a disclosure that dropped from as much as $30 million to nothing.

Those are documents, and documents do not care about press releases.

A federal judge signed off on the search, a grand jury is issuing subpoenas, and the U.S. Attorney in Washington is chasing the money.

Her husband had the chance to clear up the simplest question in the whole case.

Investigators are going to want better answers than the one he gave on that dog walk.
