The media branded January 6 a spontaneous insurrection before the smoke even cleared from the Capitol.
Rudy Giuliani sat down with Lara Logan in West Palm Beach and rejected that story completely.
He told her exactly who he believes planned it and has not backed down since.
The Documentary Built Around Five Men Trump Freed
The premiere itself was not a generic Jan. 6 retrospective.
American Martyrs, produced by Gateway Pundit founder Jim Hoft and Luke McKay, centers on five Proud Boys leaders convicted of seditious conspiracy: Enrique Tarrio, Joseph Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and Dominic Pezzola.
Tarrio was serving the longest sentence handed to any January 6 defendant, twenty-two years, before Trump's January 20, 2025 clemency freed him along with the other four.
The film argues government misconduct and political pressure, not the conduct of the men themselves, drove their prosecutions – and it features Giuliani himself alongside Lara Logan, Sidney Powell, Dr. Simone Gold, and two of the men it profiles.
Giuliani appeared alongside General Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, and Gina Loudon at the September 26, 2026 premiere in West Palm Beach, where Logan pressed him on what actually happened on January 6, 2021.
"By the time I went to sleep on the evening of January 6th, I knew exactly that it was a fixed operation," Giuliani told her.
He pointed to Capitol security failures as part of his case, citing an assessment he attributed to former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik that mounted police – standard for a crowd that size, with one mounted officer said to be worth roughly three on foot – were never deployed that day.
When Logan raised General Flynn's assertion that Barack Obama bears ultimate responsibility for what Giuliani called "the darkest hours in American history," Giuliani said he agreed, describing Obama as an "anti-president" operating as part of what he called a "communist plan to overthrow us."
Giuliani offered no documents, testimony, or new evidence to support that specific claim against Obama – it is his and Flynn's stated belief, not a finding from any investigation, court, or agency.
The Election Claims He Keeps Repeating
Giuliani also revisited his push to get Vice President Pence to delay certification, saying he was acting on letters from legislators in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Arizona alleging irregularities serious enough to warrant a closer look.
Those same claims went through more than 60 court cases after the 2020 election, including reviews by judges Trump himself appointed, and none produced evidence sufficient to change the outcome in any state.
Giuliani defended his "trial by combat" remark from the January 6 rally as constitutional shorthand about alternate electors rather than a call to violence, and noted that a judge he described as an Obama appointee later tossed out a related civil suit against him.
Pence himself has never agreed with Giuliani's reading of his authority that day, telling the January 6 committee and later reporters that the Constitution gave him no power to reject or delay the count – a position he has held publicly and consistently since leaving office.
Giuliani did not address Pence's account directly at the premiere, sticking instead to what he told Logan he believed at the time.
The Record Worth Knowing Before You Weigh It
One fact belongs alongside Giuliani's account: courts disbarred him in New York and Washington, D.C. over his 2020 election statements and ordered him to pay roughly $148 million to two Georgia election workers for defaming them.
That record does not settle what happened on January 6 – it just means the newest allegation deserves real evidence before anyone treats it as settled, the same bar Giuliani himself has failed to clear in court before.
Giuliani clearly believes every word of what he told Logan, and that room believed him too.
