Chicago Socialism 2026 Speaker Claimed Weight Loss Drugs Are Part of a Fascist Genocide Plot

Bill Ayers bombed the Pentagon in 1972 and never spent a day in prison for it.

This Labor Day weekend his old movement filled a Chicago ballroom for a four-day conference.

One speaker declared that losing weight is now a fascist genocide plot, and that was not even the most unhinged thing said on that stage.

Da'Shaun Harrison Tells Socialism 2026 Crowd GLP-1 Drugs Are Fascist

Da'Shaun L. Harrison took the stage at Socialism 2026 in Chicago over Labor Day weekend.

Harrison describes themself as a queer and trans afropessimist and anarcho-communist.

They appeared on a panel titled Health Fascism, Body Politics, and the Anti-State State.

The Democratic Socialists of America helped sponsor the conference, which charged attendees 155 dollars to walk in the door.

The panel ran on Friday, September 5, the opening day of the four-day event.

Harrison told the room that GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Ozempic are fascistic by design.

"The political deployment of GLP-1s is fascistic, not because individuals take them, but because the conditions under which they become necessary are shaped by a world fixated on genociding fat people," Harrison said.

They reached for revolutionary theorist Frantz Fanon's writing on colonial surveillance to make the case.

"Without a population to discipline, there would be no BMI, no obesity epidemic, and no medical or scientific institutions organized around managing fatness," Harrison claimed.

That framing turns your family doctor into a stand-in for the colonial police Harrison claims BMI was built to serve.

Second Panelist Says the More Dysgenic the Better

Harrison was not the only speaker pushing that message in Chicago.

Beatrice Adler-Bolton co-hosts the Death Panel podcast and co-wrote the book Health Communism.

She told the crowd that fitness culture is just a measure of who capitalism considers disposable.

Adler-Bolton urged the American left to abandon what she called the Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists.

She put it in four blunt words: "the more dysgenic, the better."

Dysgenic is old eugenics language, flipped upside down to praise being unfit instead of fearing it.

Twitchy's writer watched the same panel and called the whole spectacle slovenly, and it is hard to argue.

Domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn shared the marquee with Twitch streamer Hasan Piker at the same event.

Conference organizers required N95 or KN95 masks on the floor and urged every attendee to test for COVID.

The same movement demanding face coverings for a cold virus spent the weekend calling basic fitness a form of fascism.

RedState writer Jennifer Oliver O'Connell watched the panel and called the entire scene insane.

Her message to readers was blunt: stop laughing this off as a fringe joke and start treating it as a stated agenda.

Real Racism Looks Like Denying Black Americans Weight Loss Drugs

Black Americans already face higher rates of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and asthma than the general population.

Obesity makes every one of those conditions worse and costs the American health system more than 170 billion dollars a year.

Telling Black Americans that a drug proven to help them lose weight is secretly a slavery-era plot does not protect them.

It just keeps them sick.

That is the real fascism buried in this story, and it is not coming from Ozempic.

This kind of talk is not new on the academic left.

A self-described Fat Sex Therapist made this exact argument before, telling a St. Olaf College audience in Minnesota back in 2019 that anti-fat health science is Nazi eugenics.

Nobody paid a price for it then either, so Harrison and Adler-Bolton just carried the act to a bigger stage.

Major retailers are already shrinking their plus-size clothing lines now that GLP-1 drugs are actually working.

Body positivity was never about loving yourself – it was about selling a lifestyle nobody in the boardroom ever believed in.

Democratic Socialists of America is not just workshopping this rhetoric on a conference stage in Chicago.

They want it on a ballot next.

Losing weight is not fascism.

It is called taking care of yourself, and Harrison's movement should try it sometime.
