Kennedy Heir Jack Schlossberg Reacts After Friends Try Pairing Him With AOC

AOC just told TMZ point blank that she would probably never date a conservative.

Days later, sources say Jack Schlossberg's friends started pushing him toward her anyway.

Schlossberg's actual answer about the idea was not the one his friends wanted.

Weeks before the Schlossberg rumor surfaced, the world learned AOC had quietly ended her decade-long relationship with fiancé Riley Roberts.

Three weeks later, TMZ caught her on Capitol Hill and asked whether she would ever date a conservative.

Her answer: "probably not."

She said politics for her is "about values," and being "aligned in values is tremendously important."

Translation for anyone keeping score – roughly half the country need not apply.

That is the woman Schlossberg's circle reportedly picked as his political reboot.

Schlossberg is 33 years old.

He is the grandson of President John F. Kennedy and the son of Caroline Kennedy.

This year he ran to replace retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler in a crowded Manhattan primary.

He lost to Assemblyman Micah Lasher, who won the race with 39 percent of the vote to runner-up Alex Bores' 35 percent.

Schlossberg finished third with barely one in ten votes.

His concession speech did not help his case.

He tried to invoke his grandfather's inaugural address, telling the room "all of us ask not what our country can do, but what we can do to help our city."

He topped it off with a fist pump on his way off stage.

The internet was not moved.

One widely shared reply captured the verdict: to be cringe is to be free, and Schlossberg is nothing if not freely himself.

According to the New York Post, Schlossberg's friends have now started pushing a new plan – get him together with 36-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Insiders reportedly think the pair would "get along great" since they both believe government is a force for good.

Some of his pals apparently see a bonus prize beyond romance, floating the idea that landing close to AOC could hand Schlossberg a staff job if the relationship angle does not pan out.

Asked about it directly, Schlossberg did not play along.

"I respect her a lot – she can do way better than me!" he told the Post.

He called the entire story "What a silly story."

He has told PEOPLE before that he is single and looking for a real relationship, not a headline.

What This Matchmaking Scheme Really Says About the Democrats' Bench

The Kennedy family has been trying to manufacture its next political star for going on two decades.

It has never worked.

Pundits have doubted whether the family's next generation could inherit that kind of power ever since Ted Kennedy died back in 2009.

Schlossberg just proved them right in front of the entire country.

He had the last name, the media hits, and the internet following, and it still was not enough to beat an assemblyman most of the country had never heard of.

So the party's fixers skipped straight to plan B – borrow AOC's brand and hope some of it rubs off on the family name.

That is the real story buried under the gossip.

Democrats do not have a bench right now, they have a rolodex, and they keep recycling the same handful of names – a Kennedy here, an Ocasio-Cortez there – hoping recognition can substitute for an actual message.

The party's supposed dream pairing could not even clear the bar Ocasio-Cortez herself set days earlier.

None of this looks like a party building momentum.

It looks like two children of privilege being shuffled toward each other by handlers who have run out of better ideas.
