Officers Showed Up at Ilhan Omar’s Son’s Door and Left With One Man in Cuffs

Ilhan Omar accused ICE of racially profiling her son during a stop at a Target store earlier this year.

Police showed up at her son's Minneapolis apartment this week for a very different reason.

What they found inside had nothing to do with ICE and everything to do with who else lives there.

Traffic Stop Turns Into an Overnight Search Warrant

Minneapolis police pulled over Abdulrahman Abdi on Tuesday, according to RedState.

They cited him for driving after cancellation and having no proof of insurance.

Officers impounded his vehicle and reportedly found a firearm inside during that process.

That discovery led detectives to a Minneapolis apartment.

The apartment belongs to Adnan Omar, the congresswoman's son, according to The Washington Times.

Abdi is his roommate.

Police executed a search warrant on the apartment overnight and recovered additional guns and ammunition, according to PJ Media.

Abdi was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail.

He was released Wednesday night.

Minneapolis police confirmed to reporters that the man arrested was not the congresswoman's son but his roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, while the department itself declined further comment to Fox News Digital.

Adnan Omar has not been charged, and police have not implicated him in any wrongdoing.

Roommate's Rap Sheet Runs Ten Convictions Deep

Abdi, 22, is now facing a weapons charge on top of the traffic citations, according to The Washington Times.

That charge lands on a record that reportedly already includes ten prior convictions, per PJ Media.

One of those convictions is a 2024 felony for driving 108 mph through St. Paul.

Abdi also pleaded guilty to fleeing police in a vehicle.

That plea drew him one night in jail and two years of probation.

A felon with that kind of record catching a new weapons charge is not a minor legal problem.

Minnesota law and federal statute both treat firearm possession by someone with a felony conviction as a serious offense.

That means years in prison as the real exposure, not a fine and a slap on the wrist.

Prosecutors now have to decide whether Abdi's history turns one gun charge into a much longer sentence.

Omar Has Been Here Before With Federal Agents

This is not the first time Ilhan Omar's family has ended up at the center of a law enforcement story this year.

Omar told reporters that ICE agents pulled her son over at a Target store and questioned whether he was American.

She called it racial profiling.

DHS said it had no record of the stop ever happening.

By Omar's own account, her son was released after simply showing his passport.

Now guns and ammunition have come out of the apartment where that same son lives.

This time it's his roommate facing a judge, not federal agents facing her accusations.

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson summed up the reaction in six words: "Not a good look for Ilhan Omar."

Eitan Fischberger went further, tying the raid to Omar's daughter, who he noted was arrested during pro-Hamas riots on a college campus.

Omar's office did not respond to a request for comment on the raid.

The Irony Sitting in a Minneapolis Police Report

Nobody arrested Adnan Omar, and nobody should pretend otherwise.

But a congresswoman who built a career demanding gun control now has a loaded firearm and a felon with ten convictions turning up in her son's own apartment.

That is not a coincidence conservatives invented.

It's sitting in a Minneapolis police report.

The timing makes it worse.

Omar spent months this year insisting ICE was hunting her son over the color of his skin, and DHS could never find a record it ever happened.

This week actual Minneapolis police with an actual search warrant found actual guns in that same apartment.

Nobody at City Hall is disputing what they found.
