Elon Musk Just Dropped some 67 Percent of a Texas House to Remind Texans Who James Talarico Really Is

James Talarico told voters capitalism is an oppressive system that should be dismantled.

Elon Musk just spent $248,000 – the median home price in Texas is $365,000 – making sure Texans don't forget he said it.

The $800,000 Musk's America PAC dropped last month is only the beginning of what Republicans have lined up for November.

Why Texas Gets Nearly a Quarter Million Dollars of the Opening Salvo

America PAC, the super PAC Musk used to help elect Donald Trump in 2024, filed its first major midterm spending disclosure last week – $800,000 spent between August 19 and 31, roughly $70,000 per day, and the money went to work immediately.

The biggest single target: James Talarico, the Democrat running for the Texas Senate seat Ken Paxton is defending.

America PAC put $125,000 behind Paxton directly and $123,000 into ads opposing Talarico – nearly $248,000 total in one Texas race over two weeks.

Talarico gave Musk the opening.

He told voters capitalism is an "oppressive system" that should be "dismantled."

Not reformed.

Not regulated.

Dismantled. In Texas.

The state that built its economy on oil, free enterprise, and the explicit rejection of everything California became.

The majority of the $800,000 went to direct-mail printing through Storytellers Group – meaning Texas voters are getting Talarico's capitalism comments delivered to their mailboxes in the coming weeks, courtesy of the man who runs Tesla and SpaceX.

After Texas, the spending spread nationally: roughly $135,000 opposing Troy Jackson in the Maine Senate race, about $35,000 supporting the Republican incumbent in Maine, and additional spending in Michigan, Ohio, New Hampshire, New York, Florida, and Wisconsin.

What Musk's Return Means for the Six Senate Seats Republicans Can't Afford to Lose

This is Musk's first publicly disclosed midterm spending, and what it signals matters more than the dollar amount.

Musk spent more than $270 million getting Trump elected in 2024, making him the largest individual donor in American political history by an enormous margin.

Then he and Trump had a public disagreement, and the left spent months celebrating what they characterized as Musk's permanent exit from Republican politics.

America PAC just answered that question.

Fox News identified six GOP Senate seats at risk heading into November.

Republicans face competitive races in Alaska, Iowa, Texas, and Ohio in particular.

Democrats need a net pickup to retake the Senate majority, and the 2026 map gives them opportunities they didn't have in 2024 when the entire environment favored Trump's coattails.

Musk isn't waiting for Democrats to define those races unopposed.

The $800,000 in two weeks is a signal, not a ceiling.

That presidential-cycle total dwarfs the combined fundraising of most Senate campaigns.

If he brings even a fraction of that financial intensity to November 2026 Senate races, Republican incumbents in competitive states have a resource advantage that Democratic super PACs will struggle to match.

The Daily Wire obtained the spending breakdown within hours of the filing.

The right has been watching for this.

The money was always coming – the only question was when.

The Man Who Wants to Dismantle Capitalism Is Running in Texas

Ken Paxton is one of the most consequential Republican attorneys general in the country.

He sued the Biden administration more than 40 times.

He won cases on border enforcement and election law.

He survived a political persecution attempt by the Texas House that ended in acquittal and came back stronger.

He's an America First ally at the state level who Democrats know would be a major blow to eliminate before 2028.

They picked James Talarico to do it – a man on record calling capitalism itself an oppressive system to be dismantled, running for Senate in the state where that argument lands like a grenade at a barbeque.

Musk noticed.

A quarter of a million dollars in two weeks says he's paying attention.

Talarico wanted to run in Texas.

He's going to run against Elon Musk's direct mail operation dropping his capitalism comments into mailboxes across the state – well at least into almost a houseload or mailboxes.

Texas voters are going to get introduced to exactly who James Talarico is before November.

Some candidates benefit from name recognition.

Talarico is about to have a different kind.

Musk is spending next to next to nothing at this point and, sadly, the RINO-controlled Senate campaign arm isn’t expected to do much either after Paxton took down their man John Cornyn.
