Nick Shirley Declared “Learing Day” and the FBI Showed Up to Celebrate with Sweeping Raids

Apr 29, 2026

Tim Walz let fraudsters steal $250 million from programs meant to feed children.

Nick Shirley spent years proving it – and this morning the FBI finished the job.

Shirley declared it was "Learing Day" on social media, and within hours federal agents were kicking in doors across Minneapolis.

How Walz Let a Billion Dollar Medicaid Fraud Run for Years

Shirley is the journalist who made the "Quality Learning Center" viral – a daycare whose misspelled sign read "Quality Learing Center" and became the perfect symbol for a state government too negligent to notice it was paying fraudsters.

The center was one of dozens of operations that exploited Minnesota's childcare assistance program – a system so loosely supervised under Walz that fraudsters treated it like an ATM.

The Feeding Our Future scandal involved $250 million in stolen federal COVID food relief funds, with money wired to luxury properties, overseas accounts, and shell companies with no children, no food, and no accountability.

State auditors flagged warning signs as early as 2021.

Walz's administration approved the payments anyway.

A state government so indifferent to oversight that it couldn't notice a daycare that couldn't spell "learning" was billing taxpayers for thousands of hours of childcare that never happened.

The FBI Executed 22 Search Warrants at Minneapolis Childcare Centers

On Monday morning, April 28, 2026, FBI agents, DHS officials, and Homeland Security Investigations executed 22 simultaneous search warrants across Minneapolis.

The targets included businesses and childcare centers at the center of a federal Medicaid fraud investigation that FBI Director Kash Patel had already called a top bureau priority.

Agents in tactical gear were photographed at 1411 Nicollet – one of multiple strike locations captured on Fox News footage.

This wasn't a warning shot.

Twenty-two warrants on a single morning is a coordinated takedown – the kind of operation that takes months of grand jury work, wiretaps, and financial forensics to build.

Trump's DOJ didn't come to ask questions.

They came to end it.

Tim Walz Ran for VP While Quality Learning Center Billed Taxpayers Millions

Federal investigators are now doing what Tim Walz refused to do for five years as governor.

Walz's own Department of Human Services approved payments to providers that didn't exist, served children who were never enrolled, and billed for services during hours the centers were closed.

The Feeding Our Future case – prosecuted federally, not by Walz's state AG – resulted in 92 indictments, with 67 convictions and counting.

Walz called it a "complex federal matter."

He didn't call it theft from Minnesota children.

He didn't fire a single DHS official.

And now, while Walz gives speeches about "Minnesota values," Trump's federal agents are delivering the accountability he spent five years refusing to.

This Is What Justice Looks Like

The left will call these raids aggressive federal overreach.

They'll find a lawyer to argue due process.

They'll write op-eds about the chilling effect on immigrant-run childcare businesses.

Here's what they won't say: children in Minnesota went hungry while fraudsters billed their names to federal programs.

The money meant to buy groceries for low-income kids got wired to overseas accounts and spent on luxury cars.

The governor who let it happen nearly became Vice President of the United States.

Justice in Minnesota arrived late – but today, thanks to Trump's FBI, it arrived.
