Justice Department covers up evidence of Biden’s cognitive decline
Now that Joe Biden isn’t running for President anymore the Justice Department doesn’t have much incentive to protect him.
That became clear in a court filing over Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests about special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden stealing classified documents.
In his final report, Hur said he wouldn’t recommend charges against Biden since a jury would see Biden as “a well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” and refuse to convict him.
Conservative groups and news organizations sought materials Hur used to put this report together.
The focus centered on audio recordings of interviews between Biden and biographer writer Mark Zwonitzer.
In these interviews, Biden said he had classified documents down in his basement, which is why Hur said there was enough evidence to prosecute Biden for mishandling of classified information, but that his enfeebled mental state made securing a conviction impossible.
The Justice Department previously claimed it was too difficult to comb through audio recordings to eliminate references to classified information.
“At a hearing last month, DOJ lawyers handling one Freedom of Information case told U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich that it would be highly time-consuming to process other audio files containing Biden’s interviews with writer Mark Zwonitzer. The attorneys said those recordings stretched to 70 hours and reviewing audio for potential classified material is far more difficult than written material,” POLITICO reported.
The Justice Department claimed it didn’t have any transcripts of these interviews.
“We don’t have some transcript that’s been created by the special counsel that we can attest to its accuracy,” Justice Department lawyer Cameron Silverberg argued in court.

But after Joe Biden dropped out of the Presidential race the Justice Department suddenly discovered it did – in fact – have transcripts of some of the interviews between Biden and Zwonitzer.
“In the past few days…the Department located six electronic files, consisting of a total of 117 pages, that appeared to be verbatim transcripts of a small subset of the Biden-Zwonitzer audio recordings created for the SCO by a court-reporting service,” Silverberg wrote in a second court filing.
This seemed all too convenient to Republicans who think Democrats are throwing Joe Biden under the bus since he won’t resign and make Kamala Harris President so she can run as the incumbent.
“Now that Biden’s not running, it’s AMAZING what info DOJ can cough up,” Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) posted on X.
Conservatives also wouldn’t be surprised if Attorney General Merrick Garland relented and agreed to release the audio tapes of Biden’s two interviews with Hur that Garland claimed couldn’t see the light of day because they were too politically damaging to Biden.
