Peter Doocy got thrown for a loop by this confrontation at the Democrat Convention

Aug 28, 2024

Peter Doocy spent four days covering the Democratic National Convention.

It didn’t end well.

And Peter Doocy got thrown for a loop by this confrontation at the Democrat Convention.

Democrats lean into celebrities on the final night

Democrats loaded up the last night of the convention with as many celebrities as they could find.

The goal was to draw the biggest viewing audience possible for Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech.

Fox News Correspondent Peter Doocy found himself with the Ohio delegation and asked the delegates if they knew which stars would be performing.

“Excuse me. I don’t mean to interrupt. Do you guys know which celebrities are coming tonight?” Doocy asked.

One of the delegates knew The Chicks would be performing the national anthem.

“We have the Chicks that are gonna be performing,” the delegate answered.

“The Chicks,” Doocy responded.

The Chicks – formerly known as the Dixie Chicks – achieved national infamy in 2003 when they insulted George W. Bush at the start of the Iraq War.

Doocy also noted that early aughts recording star Pink would perform at the convention.

“And Pink,” Doocy replied.

“Pink!” the delegate exclaimed.

Democrats create a fake rumor of a surprise guest

Early on in the day, Democrats floated the rumor of a special guest appearing.

Convention organizers left an open hole in the schedule before Kamala’s speech, which led to rampant speculation that either George W. Bush, Taylor Swift, or Beyoncé would appear.

TMZ eventually reported that pop icon Beyoncé – whose “Freedom” song Kamala Harris used in her introductory video – would perform.

Doocy asked the delegates if they heard of this rumor.

“Is Beyoncé coming?” Doocy asked.

The delegates weren’t happy with this line of questioning.

“This is a serious convention. This is about issues. This is about issues. This is about America,” the delegate responded.

Doocy pointed out it was the Democrats running the convention that lined up all the musical acts.

“Are you gonna go backstage and tell them to tell the celebrities not to come out or should I?” Doocy added. “You should tell them that.”

“That’s you. You should tell them that,” the delegate shot back.

Doocy returned to the Beyoncé rumor.

“So, you guys don’t want Beyoncé to come out?” Doocy asked.

The delegates didn’t appreciate that at all.

“Don’t do this,” the delegates told Doocy.

Doocy apologized and beat a hasty retreat.

“No, no, no. Ok, apologies ok. Alright, alright. Ok. We’ll keep it going. We’ll keep it going. So, there is some debate about the effectiveness of celebrities down here with the Ohio delegation, Jesse,” Doocy said while throwing it back to host Jesse Watters.

Watters mocked Doocy over the delegates telling him to get lost.

“[Laughs] You got scolded! That was fun to watch,” Watters remarked.

The Beyoncé rumor was a dirty trick.

Beyoncé never showed up and the “special guest” was Kamala Harris.

But the point of the rumor was to generate interest and draw the biggest TV audience possible.
