Keith Olbermann demanded baseball punish one team for this pro-Trump celebration

Jul 26, 2024

Keith Olbermann is one of the most deranged liberals in the media.

Olbermann’s Trump Derangement Syndrome is off the charts.

And now Keith Olbermann demanded baseball punish one team for this pro-Trump celebration.

Olbermann loses it over home run celebration

St. Louis Cardinals designated hitter Alec Burleson smacked a solo homerun in the third inning of the team’s 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

The win kept the Cardinals a half game in front in the National League Wild Card standings.

But none of that was the story coming out of the game.

The headlines were about Burleson cupping his hand to his ear and pumping his fist as he rounded the bases in a gesture some thought was a tribute to the fist pump Donald Trump gave after surviving an assassination attempt.

One of those critics was Keith Olbermann.

In a post on social media, Olbermann demanded that Major League Baseball confiscate the Cardinals franchise, demolish the stadium, and impose a lifetime ban on the offending players.

“Attn @mlb ban these guys from baseball for life, confiscate the @Cardinalsfranchise, and implode the stadium,” Olbermann began.

Olbermann said because one player raised his fist during a home run trot that the “Cardinals = Trump Nazis,” adding “Stick to sports.”

And in case anyone missed the point, Obermann ended his rant with profanity.

“F*** THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS,” Olbermann continued.

“America has had enough of this s***,” Olbermann concluded.

The Cardinals pushback

Cardinals veteran Matt Carpenter told reporters after the game that there was nothing political about Burleson’s celebration, rather it was a callback to his college music career.

“Burleson is a former college rapper,” Carpenter stated.

“He’s been carrying us at the plate. (The celebration) is the furthest thing from a political statement,” Carpenter added.

Burleson was a rapper named “Biscuits” in college and putting his hand to his ear was meant to imitate how a DJ holds earphones.

“It’s an inside joke with (Burleson),” Carpenter stated.

Carpenter again rejected the idea that Burleson engaged in political statements.

“This isn’t a political statement by any means. I don’t know where that came from,” Carpenter concluded.

One baseball player who clearly honored President Trump was the Tampa Bay Rays’ Taylor Walls.

Walls smoked a double during his club’s 6-4 win over the New York Yankees.

After Walls pulled into second base, he pumped his fist and mouthed “fight” twice, which was a clear homage to Trump’s reaction to surviving an assassination attempt.

Olbermann didn’t comment on Walls’ celebration, but if Burleson holding up his fist had Olbermann demanding the dissolution of the Cardinals franchise, one can only imagine how badly he would have lost his mind if he saw how Walls honored Trump.
