Kamala Harris was raising hell when Democrats gave her this brutal rejection

Aug 28, 2024

Kamala Harris thought the Democrat Party was lined up behind her.

Cracks are starting to form in her political coalition.

And Kamala Harris was raising hell when Democrats gave her this brutal rejection.

Kamala Harris’ first major policy sparks Democrat revolt

Vice President Kamala Harris has mostly avoided policy to run a campaign based on vibes and joy.

There is a very good reason for why she’s doing this.

She’s trying to reinvent herself as a moderate this election, but her first major policy proposal confirmed why she was rated the most left-wing Senator in 2019 by nonpartisan GovTrack.

Rising prices at the grocery store are a strain on consumers after years of rampant inflation created by the Biden-Harris administration’s socialist spending spree.

She can’t blame inflation for the problem so she scapegoated grocery stores and food processing companies for price gouging.

Kamala proposed using the Federal Trade Commission and government agencies to enforce price controls on grocery stores accused of gouging.

Price controls are a failed socialist policy that always lead to shortages when the price is kept artificially low.

Former President Jimmy Carter used price controls on gasoline which led to shortages and long lines.

The idea received pushback from Democrats and many media outlets.

The Washington Post editorial board called it a “gimmick.”

“It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is,” Washington Post left-wing columnist Catherine Rampell wrote.

Jason Furman – an economist in the Obama administration – hoped that Kamala wasn’t serious about the idea.

“This is not sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality,” Furman said. “There’s no upside here, and there is some downside.”

Criticism of Kamala’s price control scheme extends to the halls of Congress.

Congressional Democrats try to ease concerns about Kamala’s blunder

Price controls were a red flag that had Democrats doing damage control for Kamala.

Politico reported that Democrats tried to ease concerns about the proposal by claiming that it would never pass Congress.

Six Democrat lawmakers and five Democrat aides told the outlet the price controls proposal was all about messaging.

“Rather, they’ve argued it’s a messaging tactic — a way to show that she understands food prices remain an economic burden for many Americans and to redirect voters’ anger about inflation to corporations, in a way that progressives in particular have cheered,” Politico reported.

“It’s clear to me these are very general, very lofty goals,” a House Democrat said.

Kamala’s first big policy item has her allies scrambling to claim it isn’t serious.

“I honestly still don’t know how this would work,” another House Democrat stated.

A food industry official didn’t think it was a serious policy.

“That’s why I think it’s not a serious policy,” an anonymous food industry source told Politico. “I’m sure it polls well. But it’s an obvious effort to deflect blame from her administration on inflation.”

Kamala faced heavy backlash from her own party and her media allies about her price control proposal.

She’s going to do everything possible to stick to vibes and avoid policy the rest of the way.
