Jerry Seinfeld revealed the woke mob ruined comedy by doing this one thing

Jerry Seinfeld is too big to cancel.

The former Seinfeld star is upset about the state of comedy in America and wants everyone to know it.

And now Jerry Seinfeld revealed the woke mob ruined comedy by doing this one thing.

Seinfeld warns the art of comedy on TV is dying

In a podcast interview with the New Yorker, Jerry Seinfeld took dead aim at the state of comedy.

Seinfeld said laughter was an important part of the human experience and it’s disappearing from primetime TV.

“Nothing really affects comedy. People always need it, they need it so badly, and they don’t get it,” Seinfeld told the New Yorker’s David Remnick.

Seinfeld lamented the fact that there used to be appointment television every night in primetime.

Americans could gather around the TV every night and set aside 30 minutes where they could forget about the day’s problems and just laugh.

Seinfeld cited shows like M.A.S.H., Friends and Cheers as examples of this type of TV programming.

But Seinfeld said these shows don’t exist in today’s television landscape.

“It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, ‘Oh, ‘Cheers’ is on; oh, ‘M.A.S.H.’ is on; oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on; ‘All in the Family’ is on.’ You just expected, ‘There’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.’ Well, guess what? Where is it?” Seinfeld added.

Seinfeld blames woke ideology

Seinfeld identified woke ideology as the culprit.

TV executives know any joke about race, sex, politics, PC culture on college campuses or corporate America is going to offend someone and cause a social media mob to start a hashtag campaign targeting a show.

Seinfeld explained that any script for a comedy show goes through rewrite after rewrite to sanitize any joke to make sure no woke sacred cows end up the but of a joke that comedy shows are no longer worth making.

“This is the result of the extreme left and PC crap and people worrying so much about offending other people. When you write a script and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups — ‘Here’s our thought about this joke’ — well, that’s the end of your comedy…” Seinfeld concluded.

Other comedians experience woke protests

Seinfeld isn’t the only comedy legend worried about the state of the industry.

The woke mob tried to cancel Dave Chappelle over his Netflix special where he mocked transgenderism.

Stand-up comedy is changing.

Comedy used to be a subversive genre where comics used humor to challenge the establishment and social norms.

Not increasingly woke audiences want comedy to affirm their world view.

That’s why every late-night talk show is now an hour-long group therapy session for Trump-hating liberals.

It doesn’t make for good comedy or good television.
