Geraldo Rivera trashes Matt Gaetz nomination
The Left is still trying to fight the idea that Donald Trump is now the mainstream of American politics.
Trump’s win represented a mandate to see to it that he gets personnel in place to carry out his agenda.
That was never more apparent than when Trump picked Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz to serve as his wrecking ball to demolish the forces within the Justice Department that weaponized federal law enforcement against Trump and his supporters.
Leftists knew the days of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden siccing the FBI and partisan prosecutors on as many Trump supporters as possible were over.
They also knew accountability was coming.
And the Left hated this fact.
Former Fox News contributor and former Donald Trump friend-turned-critic Geraldo Rivera spoke for the Left when he lambasted Gaetz as a “douche.”
“Matt Gaetz is a douche. So bad for Attorney General. Gross,” Rivera wrote on social media.
Rivera then took his resistance to NewsNation, where he continued to trash Gaetz, where he claimed Trump picking Gaetz made him puke in his mouth.
“When I heard that Matt Gaetz was picked to be attorney general, I threw up in my mouth,” Rivera ranted. “I think it is a horrible, creepy choice. I have no idea why he did it.”
Host Leland Vittert pushed back, saying Rivera fell into the same Trump derangement Democrats did during the election, which was just to trash Trump and ignore the issues voters said they cared about.
“The fact that all Democrats are doing, yourself included, is talking about how terrible Matt Gaetz is means they’re not talking about the things that actually the American people told us in this election they care about,” Vittert stated.
Rivera then falsely claimed Trump put Gaetz in place to weaponize the justice system against his political opponents.
“Well, as I understand it, President Trump, President-elect Trump, was absolutely keen on ending the weaponization of the Justice Department,” Rivera ranted. “That guy is the weapon that Trump will use to destroy his enemies in the DOJ, wreck its independence.”
Vittert pushed back saying he’s never once heard Gaetz say he would order the Justice Department to jail Trump’s foes.
“Hold on, hold on,” Vittert shot back. “I have not heard him say once that he is going to use the Department of Justice or that he believes the Department of Justice should go after the enemies of Donald Trump.”
Gaetz wants to reform the Justice Department, clear out the leftist ideologues who abuse their power as prosecutors to target political foes, and to help end the illegal warrantless spying the deep state used to target Trump’s campaign in the Russia collusion hoax.
Rivera then just pivoted to more personal attacks and predicting Senate Republicans would reject the Gaetz nomination.
“Matt Gaetz is the epitome of everything that is rotten in Washington. He is someone who is privileged, entitled, backstabbing,” Rivera declared.
“There’s no way the Republicans in the Senate will confirm this man. He’ll make the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearing look like a walk in the park. They will dig up everything about him,” Rivera concluded.
