California Governor Gavin Newsom has long been viewed as a politician waiting for his moment.
He has always looked willing to play ball, no matter how nasty the team, if it served his ambition.
But Gavin Newsom just turned his back on Kamala Harris in a brutal fashion.
How Did Kamala Get the Nomination?
For the last few years, “saving our democracy” has been a mantra of the Democrat Party.
Democrats want to make you believe that the Republican Party exists to make sure the will of the people is ignored.
But this narrative was just blown apart by Gavin Newsom when he said the quiet part out loud and exposed just how little regard the Democrats have for the voters.
One of the hallmarks of our republic is that we get to vote for our representatives. Even though political parties are not mentioned in the constitution, they play an important part in the process and help voters make decisions.
It is not a perfect process, but it has worked pretty well for over 200 years, much longer than in most countries.
But Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was covered up for too long by the Democrats. Many have known about this for a long time and challengers to his renomination rose up during the primaries, but the press propped up Biden until that process was over in March.
Then they all changed their tune when it became painfully apparent that he was in trouble after his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump.
Now the message was Biden was not up for the job and he needed to be replaced on the ballot.
All this happened so the Democratic elites could install their handpicked candidate and avoid any potential party splits in order to defeat Donald Trump and stay in power.
In other words the party that says it supports democracy had a plan to nominate Harris without any democracy needed.
California Governor Laughs about the Process
The Democrat Party is disciplined at its upper ranks. They pulled off a coup, getting Biden yanked off the ballot and installing Harris.
As soon as it was announced Harris was taking over, the campaign received a flood of money and polling numbers improved despite not getting one vote in the Democratic primary.
Fox News reports “California Gov. Gavin Newsom joked about the process that landed Vice President Kamala Harris the Democratic presidential nomination, saying in an interview posted Friday that he was ‘told to say’ it was an open, inclusive process.”
On the show Pod Save America, Newsom joked that “We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say.”
It is not very often when Democrats of his stature say the quiet truth out loud. The fact is that it was entirely a backroom deal of the Democratic elites who wanted to anoint their candidate.
The voices of Democrat activists who have supported Tulsi Gabbard, Bernie Sanders, or Robert Kennedy Jr. are effectively silenced by the Democrat elites.
Fox News reported on what Newsom said in the lengthy interview.
“Newsom then joked that Democrats held a 30-minute convention between tweets by Biden on July 21 announcing he left the race and then had endorsed Harris. ‘It’s been amazing,’ quipped Newsom, who’s widely seen as having future White House ambitions himself,” Fox News said.
Criticism of the Democrat Party grew after the clip went viral.
“The Party of Democracy sits around guffawing at how anti-democratic and vote-free and secret was their process for choosing and then imposing the new Democratic presidential nominee on the country,” journalist Glenn Greenwald said on X.

Fox News reported: “Another critic added, ‘Gavin Newsom knows the Harris nomination was a top-down coup, and they’re all cynical about it. Is this the ‘democracy’ they want to save? What a sick joke on their own supporters and this country.'”
This flippant remark from Gavin Newsom (who may be smarting because he wanted the nomination himself) could come back to haunt him some day.
But this is just a great reminder of what the Democrat Party really thinks about democracy and the real will of the voters.
