Donald Trump debated Kamala Harris for what will be the only time in this Presidential campaign.
But what happened next took everyone by surprise.
And Donald Trump let everyone in on a major secret about the debate.
Donald Trump explained debate demeanor
Polls after the debate from CNN, YouGov and Trafalgar showed viewers thought Kamala Harris was the “winner.”
But CNN’s poll also showed viewers have Donald Trump 20-point edged over Kamala Harris on the top two issues in the election, which are the economy and immigration.
The narrative that Kamala Harris “won” the debate took hold because of how Trump comported himself during the debate.
A focus group shared with Fox News showed independent voters agreed with Trump on immigration, the economy, energy, and inflation.
But many viewers thought Trump lost his composure and let Kamala Harris bait him to chase down rabbit holes about rally crowd sizes and other irrelevant topics.
Trump addressed these criticisms in a post on Truth Social where he again reiterated that he won the debate.
But Trump explained that – of course – he was angry.
Trump said his anger stemmed from the fact that border czar Kamala Harris let “20 million” illegal aliens into the country.
“I won the Debate, but was criticized by the Radical Left Lunatics because I looked ‘angry and forceful.’ But think, why wouldn’t I be angry? I love the U.S.A., and it is being destroyed by grossly incompetent leadership. Inflation, A Terrible Economy, Horrible Military Decisions, No Respect from around the World, and more than 20 Million people, many from prisons and mental institutions, are pouring into our Country, and creating Havoc, Crime, and Destruction, like never seen before,” Trump wrote.
Trump said it was impossible to stand up there and smile when Kamala Harris put on a performance scripted by her consultants so she could avoid talking about the fact that inflation reached a 40-year high because of the trillions in socialist spending that Kamala Harris approved with her tie-breaking vote.
But Trump did predict that he – and the rest of the country – could smile again when he won on November 5.
“Am I supposed to be smiling, like Comrade Kamala Harris, with her FAKE one-and-a-half hour smile and long practiced facial expressions, despite all of the problems that she and Crooked Joe have caused. No, there’s nothing to smile about, but there will be in the not too distant future, when America makes the biggest Comeback in History. November 5th – MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump concluded.
No second debate
Kamala Harris and her team immediately demanded a second debate.
Trump argued that was further proof that he won the first debate because only losers of the first fight call for a rematch.
For now, it doesn’t appear that there will be a second debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
And that means J.D. Vance will effectively deliver the campaign’s closing argument in the Vice-Presidential debate on October 1.
