Democrat Party leaders reached their breaking point with Kamala Harris.
Their frustrations are beginning to leak out in public.
And Democrats were forced to privately admit one brutal fact about Kamala Harris.
Democrats admit Kamala Harris is a bad candidate
Back in the summer, Democrats knew that sticking with a clearly senile Joe Biden meant a one-way ticket to defeat in November.
Party leaders like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi engineered a coup that led to Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden with 100 days remaining in the campaign.
Democrats hoped a European style snap election meant they could turn the campaign into a referendum on Donald Trump, since there wouldn’t be enough time for voters to see any of the flaws with Kamala Harris.
For two months, the scheme worked
With the help of a willing media, Democrats presented Kamala Harris’ campaign as the return of “joy” to American politics.
But that sugar high could only last for so long.
Eventually, Kamala Harris had to speak without reading words off a teleprompter.
In her debate with Donald Trump, Kamala Harris couldn’t say Americans were better off than they were four years ago.
In a series of interviews, Kamala Harris couldn’t say one way she would be different than Joe Biden.
But the last straw for Democrats was a CNN town hall where Kamala Harris claimed her biggest weakness was trying too hard and said she and Joe Biden did the “right thing” by opening the border.
The polls had already been moving in Trump’s direction.
Democrats held out hope that Kamala’s town hall could serve as a “tentpole” moment where she could flip the narrative of the campaign with a command performance.
Kamala’s bumbling performance ended all that.
Journalist Mark Halperin said on his 2way platform that Democrats were giving up on the idea that Kamala Harris could improve her performance to the point where she could win the election on her own.
“We’re not going to go overboard here and say, ‘It’s over, [former President Donald] Trump’s going to win.’ But a lot of what we’re going to talk about today is not great for Kamala Harris. Again, it doesn’t mean Trump’s a great guy in the eyes of all of America,” Halperin stated.
Halperin cited Democrats like David Axelrod slamming Kamala Harris for “word salads” on the CNN postgame show as evidence the party had admitted that her problems were unfixable.
“It doesn’t mean Trump’s going to win, but where we are right now is there are increasing problems for the Democratic Party. You saw it in the punditry from Democrats last night on CNN after the town hall,” Halperin added.
“You saw it on morning television, where Democratic pundits, trying to be poker-faced, are clearly feeling what a lot of Democratic donors are feeling and Democratic elected officials are feeling, which is there’s no time left for her to get better,” Halperin continued.
Halperin called Kamala’s performance the “last straw” for Democrats who are now resigned to letting the chips fall where they may in the election.
“And I think the biggest story of the news cycle is, along with ‘Trump loves Hitler,’ which we’ll talk about, is her performance last night was the last straw for a lot of Democrats. No more ‘the more she does it, the better she’ll get,’” Halperin concluded.
Kamala Harris’ “performance last night was the last straw for a lot of Democrats,” says @MarkHalperin about the CNN town hall where the vice president failed to directly answer friendly questions she’d been asked multiple times before. “There’s no more, ‘the more she does it the… pic.twitter.com/th0VxVf0FV
