CNN admitted this sad fact obliterated Alvin Bragg’s criminal case against Trump

May 6, 2024

Alvin Bragg’s show trial for Donald Trump wrapped up its second week.

Bragg’s charges look even weaker than anyone thought.

And even CNN admitted this sad fact obliterated Alvin Bragg’s criminal case against Trump.

Bragg yet to present any actual evidence to the jury

After two weeks and three witnesses taking the stand, even Bragg’s allies in the media have to admit his case looks exactly like the sham Donald Trump and his supporters said it was.

Bragg presented a far-fetched theory that Donald Trump stole the 2016 election by mislabeling $130,000 in payments to Michael Cohen in his company ledger as for legal services.

Bragg’s claim is that these were really reimbursements for Cohen paying Stormy Daniels $130,000 to complete a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) after Daniels threatened to go public with allegations of an affair.

The crux of the case is that Bragg is alleging Cohen and Trump conspired to violate federal campaign finance law by paying Daniels to keep quiet before the election.

But Bragg never indicted Trump on a conspiracy – which is just having knowledge of a criminal act.

And the Biden Justice Department and Federal Election Commission never charged Trump with a campaign finance violation regarding the payment to Daniels.

Bragg is prosecuting nonexistent crimes and even CNN was forced to admit Bragg presented no evidence thus far.

CNN analysts poke holes in Bragg case against Trump

Through two weeks of testimony, the only thing Bragg could prove to a jury is that the National Enquirer paid former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal $150,000 for her story about an alleged affair with Trump.

Bragg didn’t charge Trump with a crime for this payment and the National Enquirer didn’t violate any laws.

The case against Trump falling apart in real time left the Trump haters on CNN despondent.

“I’ve seen precious little evidence presented yet that Trump wasn’t floating above,” CNN political director David Chalian whined.

“I mean, I’ve seen very little evidence of Trump’s direct involvement in getting this accomplished. Correct me if I’m wrong,” Chalian added.

CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig confirmed that Chalian was correct.

“No, you’re right. A lot of that’s going to come from Michael Cohen,” Honig confirmed.

Honig said the best Bragg could do was Enquirer publisher David Pecker offering unconfirmed speculation about Trump’s knowledge of any payments.

“But also there was a few tidbits in David Pecker’s testimony, right, that there were direct communications, but it’s a great point, David. There hasn’t not been much evidence yet directly of Donald Trump’s involvement and knowledge,” Honig added.

It was up to legal analyst Elliot Williams to try and provide a ray of hope for CNN’s liberal viewers.

“Prosecutors certainly haven’t proven their entire case, you know, their burden now by any stretch of the imagination,” Williams stated. “And in all likelihood, if they’re doing their jobs, future witnesses will help tease a lot of this information out. But something that certainly has not been established thus far, eight or nine days in is, ‘well, what can we say about the involvement of the actual defendant?’”

The elephant in the room

CNN avoided the big problem with Bragg’s case.

Even if everything Bragg claims is true, there still isn’t a criminal case against Trump.

Falsification of business records is a misdemeanor charge with a two-year statute of limitations.

The payments Bragg alleges took place in 2017 and 2018, meaning these charges are stale.

There is also no possible way Bragg can also claim that how Trump labeled payments to Michael Cohen in 2017 and 2018 influenced the 2016 election.

It just isn’t metaphysically possible.

Even if the campaign finance violation Bragg is claiming happened, the payment from Trump to Cohen would have been included on the campaign finance report Trump submitted on December 31, 2016, and it would have been made public in early January 2017, once again far too late to impact the outcome of the election.
