The mainstream media has become the mouthpiece of the Democrat Party.
But sometimes Democrats are so outrageous even their media allies must challenge them.
And an CNBC Host let loose on key Democrat Congressman after he said this one shocking word about Medicare and Social Security.
Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) found himself on the receiving end of a brutal tongue-lashing from a very unlikely source.
“Are you out of your mind?”
CNBC host Joe Kernen took Khanna to the woodshed after the California Democrat called Medicare and Social Security “efficient.”
The exchange happened last week while Kernan was interviewing Khanna about President Donald Trump’s appointment of Leland Dudek, the head of the Social Security Administration’s anti-fraud office, as acting head of the agency February 18.
The appointment came after Michelle King resigned, following a clash with Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees.
Kernen said he had pointed out that cutting “fraud, waste and abuse” was a “bipartisan” issue in a post on X, but Khanna defended the programs.
“Oh, there’s certain things that are not inefficient. Medicare, Social Security,” Khanna said, prompting an incredulous Kernen to ask, “What?”
“Medicare is not ine—come on. Are you out of your mind? Medicare?” Kernan continued. “And I’m not saying it’s Medicare’s fault, necessarily. There are in — look around and look at the way Medicare is gamed out by the people that benefit from it or Medicaid. I think Medicare Advantage might be one of the things that we’re talking about. Right, Ro?”
Kernan was correct of course.
Over the years, there have been multiple instances of Medicare fraud.
These examples include one case where the program was defrauded for more than $1 billion by two Puerto Rico-based health plans between 2007 and 2010.
$72 billion in improper payments
And in 2024, a hospital run by a company tied to James Biden, the brother of former President Joe Biden, was investigated for a Medicare fraud and kickback scheme.
In July 2023, an audit was done that showed the Social Security database had nearly 19 million people born before 1920 who did not have any death information listed.
An August 2024 audit showed the Social Security Administration made at least $72 billion in improper payments largely because recommended improvements from the office’s inspector general were never implemented.
Elon Musk and DOGE’s actions to eliminate waste and fraud and reduce the size and scope of the federal government are being challenged in court.
A federal judge recently blocked the agency from reviewing Social Security data to uncover fraud.
But other courts have allowed DOGE to carry out its efforts.
As that plays out in court, Musk and DOGE continue to uncover massive amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse across the federal government.
And these include well documented examples from both Social Security and Medicare.
But Democrats are too worried about losing their taxpayer funded slush fund to even admit there is any inefficiency in the programs.
And they are so over the top that even their media mouthpieces are being forced to challenge them.
