The 2024 election was a disaster for Democrats.
Now the party is left sifting through the rubble to figure out how it all went wrong.
And Chuck Schumer was stunned into silence by what he learned in these private meetings.
Democrat support for transgender ideology crushed Democrats in 2024
Trump thumped Kamala Harris so decisively that Republicans picked up four senate seats and defeated three long-time Democrat incumbents.
Donald Trump’s coattails extended far down the ballot.
For most of 2024, the polls showed Democrat Senators running far ahead of their GOP challengers.
But as fall set in, Republican candidates surged.
When the dust settled, Republicans flipped Democrat held seats in Pennsylvania, Montana, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer found out there was one issue above all that Democrats felt cost them the Senate majority.
And that was their support of the radical transgender agenda.
Axios reported that “Chuck Schumer heard a consistent, urgent alarm this week from Democrats who felt ambushed by GOP attacks on transgender people participating in women’s sports.”
This was a problem for Democrats up and down the ticket.
Donald Trump pummeled Kamala Harris’ support for taxpayer funded transgender surgeries for prisoners and illegal aliens.
Democrats such as President Bill Clinton urged a response.
“At one point, former President Bill Clinton told an associate, ‘We have to answer it and say we won’t do it,’” the New York Times reported.
Kamala Harris never responded because the ads the campaign came up with to try and rebut Trump’s attacks bombed with voters.
“The Harris team debated internally how to respond. Ads the Harris team produced with a direct response to the “they/them” ads wound up faring poorly in internal tests. The ads never ran,” the Times also reported.
Some Democrats did try pushing back.
Republicans and allied groups ran $77 million worth of attack ads on the transgender agenda.
Democrats told Schumer their campaigns were helpless in the face of these commercials even though they ran their own ads trying to counter the GOP onslaught.
“In two private postmortem meetings convened by Schumer, Democrats said the party was caught flat-footed by the attacks, even as many campaigns aired ads pushing back,” Axios reported.
In Ohio, a seat the GOP flipped from blue to red, a Republican aligned Super PAC ran $32 million worth of attack ads hammering Democrat incumbent Sherrod Brown for his votes “allowing trans biological men in girls’ locker rooms” and “sex change surgery for kids.”
The GOP transgender agenda attack ads worked because they didn’t require any leap in imagination by viewers.
In the case of Kamala Harris, Trump used Kamala’s own words saying she supports transgender surgeries for inmates.
Republicans hung Democrat Senators on their own petard over their vote for the Transgender Bill of Rights, which forced schools to allow biological males to play in women’s sports.
