Byron Donalds destroyed George Stephanopoulos with this epic truth bomb

Aug 8, 2024

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos is one of the poster children for liberal media bias.

But Stephanopoulos met his match.

And Byron Donalds destroyed George Stephanopoulos with this epic truth bomb.

Donalds and Stephanopoulos spar over Donald Trump’s January 6 comments

Byron Donalds (R-FL) threw down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos over Stephanopoulos’ false claim that Trump promised to pardon January 6 defendants who assaulted police officers.

Stephanopoulos claimed Trump made that promise at the National Association of Black Journalists’ conference.

“This was [NABJ forum moderator] Rachel Scott’s question: ‘My question is on those rioters who assaulted officers. Would you pardon those people?’ ‘Oh, absolutely, I would.’ That’s his words,” Stephanopoulos said to Donalds.

Donalds corrected Stephanopoulos by pointing out he left out a key part of Trump’s quote.

“Yes, but you did not leave in was the rest of his comments where he said — ‘yeah, I would, but we want to look at everything on a case-by-case basis,’” Donalds stated. “That’s what will happen, George.”

Stephanopoulos then clearly demonstrated he didn’t understand the concept of a pardon by saying none of the Trump supporters convicted that day could be innocent by virtue of their cases leading to guilty verdicts.

“No, that’s actually — that’s not what he said,” Stephanopoulos responded. “He said, ‘If they were innocent, I would pardon them.’ They’ve all been convicted. He said he would pardon those who assaulted police officers. Do you support that or not?”

If no one was convicted, they wouldn’t need a pardon in the first place.

Byron Donalds shuts down January 6 falsehood

Donalds explained the Trump supporters face a two-tiered system of justice where Biden prosecutors threw the book at their political opponents.

“And, George, what I’m telling you is he’s going to go back and look at these cases,” Donalds reiterated. “Because it is without a doubt – and, look, January 6th is a very painful memory in our country – but it is without a doubt that the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia was supercharging these people because of political viewpoints.”

The January 6 defendants never stood a chance as the jury pools were pulled from Washington, D.C., which is 95 percent Democrats.

Donalds told Stephanopoulos that to see the bias, in effect, all you had to do was look at the recent riot where prosecutors dropped all charges against pro-Hamas militants who attacked police, burned the American flag, and defaced a liberty bell with terrorist slogans.

“Because you have other riots that have occurred in Washington, D.C., where the charges were minimized or dismissed altogether. That is not an even-handed system of justice. That is a politically motivated system of justice,” Donalds added.

“And you don’t have to look any further than the difference between how the Department of Justice has treated Donald Trump versus how the Department of Justice has treated Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton. What he is talking about is equal — is equal enforcement of the law, not picking and choosing because of your politics,” Donalds concluded.
