Karine Jean-Pierre froze up when faced with this question about Donald Trump

Nov 25, 2024

Karine Jean-Pierre is winding down her disastrous tenure as White House press secretary.

It’s not the way Jean-Pierre wanted to go out.

And Karine Jean-Pierre froze up when faced with this question about Donald Trump.

Jean-Pierre stumbles over question about her successor

Left-wing activist April Ryan asked Jean-Pierre about whether it was important for the press secretary to hold a daily briefing.

When Donald Trump was president the first time, there was a period of time where we had no press briefings. In the space that you’re in, in this moment, and have been for a while, do you think it is significant in this moment in time for the American public to hear from the spokesperson on a daily basis or do you believe that the President can do it himself?” Ryan asked.

The origin of the question owed to the period during the first Trump administration when Trump canceled the daily briefings.

Trump scuttled the briefings since they lost their utility.

Resistance fanatics like Jim Acosta turned the briefings into platforms to make TV stars out of themselves so they could get book deals and cable news hosting gigs.

Jean-Pierre tried to tip toe her way around this question as the last thing she wanted to do was pick a fight with the incoming – and much more popular – Trump administration.

“Look, I’m not going to speak how any administration decides to do the business of the American people, how they decide to communicate with the American people,” Jean-Pierre began.

Jean-Pierre then made the laughable claim that she viewed her legacy as restoring the norms of respectful interactions with the press from behind the White House podium.

“What I can speak to is what we’ve tried to do, which is bring back the norms of how this all works, how we communicate with the press. We’ve tried to do this in a very respectful way. I’ve mentioned we’ve done more than 500 briefings proudly. Some have been tough. Some have been tougher than most, if you will, but it is a privilege to stand at this lectern — behind this lectern at this podium. It is a privilege. It is a privilege to speak for this President. It is a privilege to actually talk about what we’re doing to you and to the American people,” Jean-Pierre continued.

“I can’t speak to what any administration is going to do. I’m not going to look into the future. What I can say is what we have been committed to, the freedom of the press, respecting the press, having tough back and forths, but this is what democracy is all about,” Jean-Pierre continued.

Jean-Pierre showed the press no respect.

In fact, Jean-Pierre considered members of the media her functionaries.

In the two weeks before Joe Biden’s frightening debate performance, Jean-Pierre demanded reporters lie to the American people and call the videos of Joe Biden wandering around the G7 Summit or freezing up on stage at a fundraiser in Los Angeles cheap fakes.

Reporters knew these videos of Biden were evidence of his senility, but they played along with Jean-Pierre’s false claims out of fear that telling the truth would help Donald Trump politically.

Counting on the press to lie to the public on your behalf isn’t upholding norms or defending a free press.
