Queens resident Ramses Frias is upset with what’s happened to his neighborhood.
“It feels like Bangkok with women outside locations and pulling men off the street,” Frias said. “This area has been run rampant with prostitution. It’s just been out of control and the lawlessness continues to happen.”
Shoplifting and pickpocketing have increased as the rule of law breaks down.
“This doesn’t feel like my home,” Frias explained. “I’ve been here my whole life, and this feels like I’m a tourist in a Third World country. This is not how this is supposed to look, this is not how it’s supposed to feel.”
Residents and businesses who speak out about the rampant prostitution are being threatened by the brothel owners on the street.
Frias said that Ocasio-Cortez was nowhere to be found about the problems facing her district.
The last time she was in the neighborhood was in 2023 when she took part in a protest demanding that the city give permits to illegal street vendors.
“She does not visit this area; this is actually an area where she campaigned the hardest and a lot of people went out [to vote] for her, and she doesn’t come over here,” Frias said. “She has totally neglected us.”
Frias lamented that elected officials have ignored the area.
“So, we’re totally neglected, we’re here to fend for ourselves and this is what we have to do now,” Frias added.
He plans to run for New York City Council next year as a Republican.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has long championed open borders and sanctuary city laws.
Her district is paying the price and she’s missing in action while constituents suffer.
