Republicans slam new Russia collusion hoax
Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) both ripped the Kamala Harris administration trying to smear conservative media figure as Russian dupes.
The weaponized Justice Department indicted two RT employees for paying $10,000,000 to Tenet Media – a Nashville-based company run by conservative activists Liam Donovan and Lauren Chen, who then paid conservative influencers Benny Johnson, Dave Rubin, Tim Pool and others for content.
There is no evidence any of the influencers knew where the source of the money came from, but the Kamala Harris administration wanted to introduce a new storyline into the election that conservatives were operating at the behest of Russia.
Moreno slammed the attacks as “a clear violation of the First Amendment” adding that the Kamala Harris weaponized government sought to censor the opposition by limiting “what information we’re allowed to see.”
Rubio raises big questions about political targeting
Senator Rubio also attacked the narrative the Kamala Harris administration pushed about so-called “Russian disinformation.”
“So disinformation is something totally different from what they are going after and describing. Disinformation is when you make up things that aren’t true and you spread it people think they’re true. In this particular case, we are talking about pre-existing political opinions in the United States,” Rubio began.
Rubio also explained that influencers Tenet Media contracted with didn’t change their opinions for money.
They were paid to express beliefs they already held.
“These are pre-existing political opinions that have existed well before any Russian engagement or involvement or what have you. One of the indictments that came out yesterday, these people that they say were being funded by the secret donor that was hiding their true identity, they already had these opinions. They already believe in these things. They legitimately believe in the views that they’re espousing,” Rubio added.
Rubio also pointed out that the influencers were victims in this case because they had no idea where the money came from to pay them.
“They were victims. They were targets of a fraud. And when someone posing as just a regular investor had Russian money behind them,” Rubio concluded.
Democrats want to discredit any source of information they don’t control.
The purpose of this indictment – as Moreno and Rubio pointed out – is to make voters think that media outlets that support Trump are all paid Russian propagandists.
