Nate Silver said Democrat Party attempts to keep RFK Jr. off the ballot are a mistake
Joe Biden won in 2020 in large part because Democrats found friendly judges to keep third party candidates off the ballot.
With Joe Biden set to be the nominee again in 2024, Democrats unleashed a flurry of legal challenges to keep independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – as well as other third party candidates – off the ballot.
With Joe Biden out of the race, that strategy now looks like it may backfire.
Election forecaster and polling analyst Nate Silver appeared on Dan Abrams’ NewsNation program and explained that all the current data shows Robert F. Kennedy Jr. taking more votes from Donald Trump.
That’s because Kamala Harris’ entry into the race coalesced the Democrat Party base, and any liberals who were dissatisfied with Biden and backing Kennedy came home.
“As best as we can tell, and we crunch all these numbers, RFK now takes more votes from Trump than from Harris. I mean, he’s anti-vax, he’s anti-establishment, and that’s overcoming the Kennedy name and that brand,” Silver began.
Silver said Democrats had the wheels in motion for successful lawsuits in states like New York and that they may come to regret this decision if they block Kennedy from the ballot in key swing states and force his voters to choose, which could benefit Donald Trump.
“So, you know, Democrats, for example, wanted him off the ballot here in states like New York. That lawsuit’s been successful for now. That’s probably a mistake. They’d rather have RFK draining anti-establishment votes from Trump,” Silver concluded.

Kamala campaign angers Kennedy
Kamala’s team also upset Kennedy by attacking him following a story in the Washington Post reporting that Kennedy offered to drop out of the race and endorse Kamala in exchange for an administration job.
In a post on X, Kennedy attacked today’s Democrat Party as a radical departure from one his uncle John F. Kennedy knew.
“VP Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable to my father and uncle and I cannot reconcile it with my values,” Kennedy posted.
Kennedy attacked Kamala as the candidate of lockdowns, Wall Street and warmongers.
“The Democratic Party of RFK and JFK was the party of civil liberties and free speech. VP Harris’s is the party of censorship, lockdowns, and medical coercion. Kennedy Democrats were anti-war. Kamala’s is riddled with neocon warmongers. The RFK/JFK dems were allies of Main Street, cops, firefighters, and working people. VP Harris’s is the Party of Big Tech, Big Pharma and Wall Street,” Kennedy concluded.
Kennedy previously reportedly engaged in discussions with Donald Trump about an endorsement.
And the last thing Kamala needs to do is poke the bear and annoy Kennedy to the point that he ends up dropping out and endorsing Trump.
