Colin Kaepernick Now Complains His White Adoptive Mother Pushed Him Toward Taylor Swift

Colin Kaepernick knelt for the national anthem and blamed his white parents for never understanding him.

New memoir pages reveal that same adoptive mother pushed him toward Taylor Swift years before Travis Kelce ever got the chance.

Kaepernick now claims his mother wanted him dating Taylor Swift long before Travis Kelce entered the picture.

Memoir Reveals Mother Pushed Taylor Swift Over His Black Girlfriend

Kaepernick's new memoir, The Perilous Fight, lays out the story himself.

"When I was in the NFL, she told me that I should ask out Taylor Swift because we would be perfect together," Kaepernick writes.

That is not the only white woman his mother pushed on him.

Years earlier, Kaepernick took a Black girl named Crystal to his high school homecoming dance, and when he brought home the portrait, his mother "hid it away in the back of a drawer."

For the next formal dance, she steered him toward Lindsay, the white daughter of one of her friends, and that photo "promptly" went up on the wall for everyone to see.

"In her mind, Crystal was just a phase," Kaepernick writes. "Lindsay was the kind of girl I should want."

Swift, for her part, apparently never had a shot.

Kaepernick has made clear the pop star was "not his type."

The Same Man Who Blamed White Parents for Not Understanding Him

This is the same Colin Kaepernick who has told interviewer after interviewer that his adoptive parents struggled to embrace his Blackness.

He took a knee during the anthem in 2016 and turned that gesture into a career built on accusing white America of failing him.

Nike paid him millions to be the face of that grievance.

Now his own book reveals the specific grievance was that his white mother wanted him with Taylor Swift instead of a black girlfriend named Crystal.

Pick a lane, Colin.

Either your parents never understood you, or they understood exactly what you wanted and tried to set you up with the most famous woman in America.

You do not get to claim both.

Kaepernick Still Says the NFL Is Blackballing Him

The Taylor Swift story lands at the same time Kaepernick is back in headlines insisting football owners are still conspiring against him.

Kaepernick said recently that the NFL is "actively blackballing me," adding that the league "has targeted my brothers who have been protesting as part of this as well."

Kaepernick has not thrown an NFL pass since the 2016 season.

He and former teammate Eric Reid sued the league over collusion and settled in 2019.

Seven years later he is still framing his choices as someone else's conspiracy.

The Taylor Swift complaint follows the exact same pattern.

His mother's advice was not malicious – it was a mother wanting her son happy with a global superstar – yet Kaepernick spins it into another grievance for the book tour.

Kaepernick Cannot Stop Blaming the People Who Raised Him

The real story here is not that Colin Kaepernick's mother liked Taylor Swift for her son.

Plenty of parents have opinions about who their kids should date.

The real story is that Kaepernick has built a decade-long brand on portraying his white parents as clueless obstacles to his identity, and his book proves they were paying closer attention than he ever gave them credit for.

They wanted him with one of the most successful entertainers alive.

He wanted grievance material for a memoir instead.

Swift ended up marrying Travis Kelce in July 2026, a Kansas City Chiefs tight end who never made his career about kneeling during the anthem.

Kaepernick made a career out of kneeling and is still trying to sell books off a decade-old protest.

The contrast writes itself.
