JD Vance Just Blew the Lid Off an Insurance Billing Scam You Pay for Inside Children’s Clinics

Doctors, hospitals, and insurance middlemen have built an entire industry on targeting Medicaid.

Now the federal government says the paperwork behind a bunch of it in pediatric medicine was a lie.

And JD Vance just blew the lid off one billing scam inside children’s clinics that Americans have been forced to pay for.

Doctors Used a Fake Diagnosis to Disguise Child Sex Change Drugs

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. released a report this week called "Wolves in White Coats."

It found nearly $50 million in insurance claims for puberty blockers billed under code E34.9, "endocrine disorder, unspecified," between 2015 and 2025.

Kids as young as nine got the code slapped on their charts.

A University of Iowa study cited in the report found fewer than five percent of children billed with that code actually had an endocrine condition.

The rest were transgender-identifying kids – or more to the point, kids with adults, allegedly, around them who wanted them to identify that way – getting puberty blockers, with the paperwork calling it something else entirely.

Hospitals also billed nearly $11 million using a "central precocious puberty" code for teenagers as old as 17.

Real precocious puberty happens before age eight in girls and nine in boys.

Doctors billed insurance companies as if 16 and 17 year olds were hitting puberty early.

Boston Children's Hospital had zero of those diagnoses between 2017 and 2019.

By 2022 it had 50.

Pennsylvania's Medicaid data showed reimbursements for that same code jumped 2,100 percent between 2013 and 2017.

CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz did not mince words about what that pattern means.

"When billing practices obscure what care was actually provided, especially when children are involved, we have an obligation to follow the facts," Oz said.

WPATH Told Hospitals Exactly How to Get Away With It

The report found this was not sloppy paperwork.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health gave a 2021 presentation instructing providers to use the "unspecified" endocrine code for transgender and gender diverse adolescents.

An activist group wrote the cheat sheet, and hospitals across America followed it.

More than 225 hospitals and health systems built pediatric gender programs off the back of this billing scheme.

The report tallies nearly $120 million in questionable billings since 2019, covering over 5,500 surgeries and 8,500 courses of puberty blockers or hormones.

Genital surgeries alone ran $54,000 to more than $108,000 per patient.

That is far more than insurers pay out for a year of routine pediatric care.

Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brian Christine called what these hospitals built a system of "captive patients."

Vice President JD Vance referred the flagged hospitals and clinics directly to Attorney General Todd Blanche for prosecution.

Vance said hospitals were "subjecting children to horrific, experimental treatments" for two reasons: ideology and money.

Kennedy has already moved to cut off Medicaid and CHIP funding for these procedures.

Every leftist talking head spent five years calling this a settled medical consensus while hospitals cashed checks off nine-year-olds.

Now we know the "consensus" ran on a billing code an activist lobbying group handed out like a coupon.

This is not complicated.

A trade association told hospitals how to disguise experimenting with kids’ hormones as routine endocrine care, and hospitals billed insurance like a chop shop for years.
