Marsha Blackburn Revealed One Truth About What Comes Next on Voter ID That Should Terrify Every Senate Democrat

Democrats have spent years telling America that asking for an ID to vote is racist voter suppression.

Marsha Blackburn sat across from Maria Bartiromo and calmly dismantled that argument with one number.

That number is the truth about voter ID Senate Democrats hoped would stay buried.

Every Senate Democrat Votes No On Photo ID Anyway

Marsha Blackburn joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures fresh off winning the Republican nomination for Tennessee governor.

She barely talked about the governor's race.

She was there to talk about what had just happened on the Senate floor.

Senate Republicans forced a vote on a stripped-down photo ID requirement for federal elections early Saturday morning.

Fifty-two Republicans voted yes.

Every Senate Democrat who showed up voted no.

The amendment needed 60 votes to survive.

It got 52.

Blackburn laid out the number that made the vote look absurd.

"The interesting thing was every single Democrat voted against showing an ID, even though 83 percent of the American people and 71 percent of all Democrats think you ought to have to show that ID," Blackburn said.

Democrat Voters Do Not Agree With Democrat Senators

Seventy-one percent is the part Democrat leadership does not want repeated out loud.

That is not a Republican talking point Blackburn invented to score points.

It is Democrat voters, in Democrat households, telling pollsters their own senators are wrong.

Chuck Schumer even admitted as much back in March, telling the floor that "Democrats support voter ID" and that his party already included it in their own Freedom to Vote bill.

Weeks later, Schumer and every other Senate Democrat voted against Senator Jon Husted's photo ID amendment anyway, 53 to 47.

This fight didn't start in 2026 either.

Senate Democrats spent 2022 trying to gut the filibuster itself just to force a voting bill through with only their own votes.

Notice what they were fighting for back then – expanding who could vote, never verifying who was actually voting.

California's Alex Padilla called this weekend's vote "theatrics."

Theatrics is an odd word for a bill that just asks you to prove you're a citizen before you cast a ballot.

Blackburn's Own Bill Targets the Rolls Democrats Won't Touch

Blackburn isn't just asking for an ID at the ballot box.

Her bill incentivizes states to check their voter rolls against the Department of Homeland Security's SAVE system – the federal list of people in the country who are not citizens.

Newt Gingrich has spent this year asking the obvious question nobody in Washington wants to answer.

Why would elected officials break so cleanly from a consensus that large?

Gingrich has floated a blunter theory – some of these Democrats want to protect the ability to count votes from people who were never supposed to be on the rolls in the first place.

That theory gets harder to dismiss every time the vote count comes back the same.

What Blackburn Does With This Fight Next

Senate Republicans did not walk away from this weekend with nothing.

Blackburn confirmed 95 percent of President Trump's appointees are now through the confirmation process.

She confirmed the Senate passed a continuing resolution, so there will not be another government shutdown.

The one thing Republicans could not get past a Democrat filibuster was the simplest ask on the list – prove you are who you say you are before you vote.

Blackburn is about to take that fight from the Senate floor to the governor's mansion.

If Tennessee voters send her there in November, she will have the executive power in her own state to enforce exactly what fifty-two Senate votes could not.

Democrat senators can keep telling reporters they support voter ID.

Seventy-one percent of their own voters already told pollsters the truth first.
