Hunter Biden Just Blamed His Father’s DOJ for Going Too Easy on Trump and Then Murmured Something About Closets

Pundits still blame Joe Biden for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that broke his presidency.

But Hunter Biden just named a completely different failure as his father's greatest mistake in office.

Hunter says his father's own Justice Department went far too easy on Donald Trump.

Hunter Names the Man He Blames Most

Everyone has a list of Joe Biden's worst moments.

The Afghanistan withdrawal. Picking Kamala Harris. Forgetting where Jackie Robinson's name belonged in a sentence.

Hunter Biden skipped all of it.

Sitting down on Jennifer Welch's "I've Had It" podcast, Hunter said the real disaster of his father's presidency was one man: Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Not the border. Not inflation. Not any of the usual suspects.

Garland.

Welch teed up the moment by griping that Garland's Justice Department went after Hunter while letting Trump skate, saying "the Merrick Garland DOJ and the not prosecuting of Trump."

Hunter agreed completely.

He called Garland's leadership "the single greatest mistake of my father's administration."

Hunter Insists Garland Didn’t Go After Conservatives, Only Him

Here is where it gets good.

For four years, Democrats and the corporate press swore up and down that the Justice Department was untouchable and completely independent from politics.

Now the former president's own son is on tape complaining that Garland did not go hard enough after Trump.

Hunter tried to soften it by praising his father for staying out of DOJ decisions, saying "the buck has to stop with my dad."

Then he pivoted straight back to attacking Garland, accusing him of holding back after January 6th out of fear of "fanning the flames" instead of moving immediately.

That is not a defense of the Justice Department's independence.

That is a confession that the Biden family wanted the DOJ pointed like a weapon, and Garland simply was not fast enough or vicious enough for their liking.

Garland's Justice Department did charge Trump. Special counsel Jack Smith secured a federal indictment against him in the January 6th case in August 2023, the same month Garland named David Weiss special counsel over Hunter's case.

Weiss indicted Hunter on gun charges, offered him a plea deal a judge later called potentially unconstitutional, and watched Hunter plead guilty on tax charges before Joe Biden pardoned his own son on the way out the door.

Meanwhile, Smith's cases against Trump were closed after Trump won a second term, since Justice Department policy bars prosecuting a sitting president.

Hunter apparently sees that outcome as Garland's failure, not as a former president winning an election fair and square.

Notice what Hunter never once mentioned: due process, evidence, or the actual law.

That is the exact accusation conservatives have made against the FBI and DOJ for a decade, except this time it is coming from the family that ran the Justice Department.

And Garland's DOJ was hardly gentle to begin with. Prosecutors already pursued nearly 1,600 January 6th cases, at times hitting peaceful bystanders with charges just as serious as the ones facing people who assaulted police.

Hunter is not saying the DOJ went easy on the country. He is saying it went easy on one man, and that man was Donald Trump.

The Rehab Tour Nobody Asked For

This podcast stop is just the latest leg of Hunter's ongoing image rehabilitation tour.

The former first son already sat down with Candace Owens, floated an OnlyFans joke about his old paintings, and reportedly nearly came to blows with "Groyper" streamer Nick Fuentes in a Philadelphia hotel room.

Every one of those stops was supposed to rebuild Hunter's image.

Instead, each one hands Republicans a fresh admission the Biden family never meant to make.

Hunter is not sticking to a script, and his father's legacy is paying for it one podcast at a time.

The Verdict

Conservatives spent four years insisting the Garland DOJ was political to its core.

Hunter Biden just confirmed it, using his own mouth, on tape, for the whole country to hear.

He did not accuse Garland of being unfair to his father's enemies.

He accused Garland of not being unfair enough.

Democrats spent years lecturing America that the system was fair, neutral, and above politics.

Turns out the only complaint inside the Biden family was that the system wasn't rigged in their favor fast enough.

Oh and Hunter claimed the biggest problem in DC is there’s a whole bunch of closeted Republicans.

With how many times members of the establishment have stabbed conservatives in the back, a la the late “Lady G” as Charlie Kirk used to say, he may be on to something there.
