A Prosecutor Who Jailed J6 Patriots Is Now Going After Dana White and UFC Freedom 250

Jun 11, 2026

The Biden DOJ spent two years throwing January 6 defendants in prison – and the man who led that charge just found a new target.

Now he's coming after your White House UFC fight.

And the reason he put in writing will leave you speechless.

UFC White House Lawsuit Filed Days Before Freedom 250

Brendan Ballou – the Biden-era federal prosecutor who spent two years hunting down J6 defendants – runs a group called the Public Integrity Project.

On Saturday, Ballou's outfit filed an emergency lawsuit in D.C. federal court demanding a judge cancel UFC Freedom 250.

The event is days away.

It's set for the South Lawn of the White House on June 14 – Trump's 80th birthday and Flag Day – with two championship fights, 85,000 free public tickets, and the Zac Brown Band performing on the Ellipse.

The plaintiffs are two Virginia residents.

One is described in the lawsuit as a "senior citizen activist and organizer."

The other is a Vietnam War veteran named Paul Romano – who, the lawsuit solemnly declares, is suffering "aesthetic, dignitary, and procedural harms."

Aesthetic harms.

A UFC fight card featuring Ilia Topuria, Alex Pereira, and Michael Chandler is giving someone aesthetic harms.

Dana White and Trump Face Federal Court Challenge Over South Lawn

Ballou's lawsuit claims the National Park Service violated federal regulations by approving a sporting event on federal parklands.

It argues the 600-ton steel arch – already built on the South Lawn – required congressional approval and an environmental review that never happened.

The White House didn't flinch.

An administration official called the lawsuit "obstructionist, baseless, and dilatory" and said it was filed "simply to prevent President Trump from hosting what will undoubtedly go down as one of the most historic sporting events in our Nation's history during our semiquincentennial celebration."

The White House added that the event is no different from other properly permitted gatherings held on the South Lawn and the National Mall throughout the year.

Ballou told reporters he expects a ruling this week.

He said: "We think that this is a profound misuse of our sacred national monuments for private gain."

A free public event celebrating America's 250th birthday is a profound misuse of sacred monuments.

This Is Who Brendan Ballou Is

This isn't Ballou's first attempt to weaponize litigation against Trump and his allies.

Just weeks ago, the Public Integrity Project filed a separate lawsuit targeting Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund – the one set up after the Biden DOJ's IRS leak of Trump's private tax records.

Ballou is also currently representing two Capitol Police officers suing to block that fund from compensating J6 defendants.

He appears regularly on CNN and MSNBC.

His work appears in the New York Times, The Atlantic, and Slate.

He's not a disinterested watchdog.

He's a political operative with a law license.

The Man Who Jailed MAGA Is Now Trying to Cancel Fight Night

Here's what fires me up about this story.

Ballou spent two years as one of the federal government's most aggressive J6 prosecutors – helping lock up Americans who walked into the Capitol on January 6.

Trump pardoned those Americans.

Ballou responded by building an organization whose entire purpose is to file lawsuit after lawsuit to harass, obstruct, and reverse everything Trump does.

A UFC fight to celebrate America's 250th birthday – with free tickets for 85,000 citizens, championship-level fights, and a concert on the Ellipse – is apparently his line in the sand.

Federal courts have seen this playbook before.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation ran nearly identical arguments – same Administrative Procedure Act theories, same federal-grounds claims – to block Trump's White House ballroom project.

A federal judge threw it out, calling their legal strategy a "ragtag group of theories."

Ballou is running the same play.

The judge has five days to decide.

If the courts hold, America gets the greatest UFC event in history on the South Lawn of the White House.

If Ballou wins, a J6 prosecutor cancels America's birthday party over hurt feelings dressed up as federal law.
