New York's Medicaid program costs $124 billion a year – nearly 80% more per resident than the national average.
Doctor Oz just explained exactly where that money goes.
He went on Jesse Watters Primetime Monday night and connected every dot – and Albany Democrats are going to spend the rest of the week hoping nobody saw it.
Albany Turned Half a Million Jobs Into a Political Machine
The scheme is elegant in how corrupt it is.
New York created a program called CDPAP – the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program – that pays people Medicaid dollars to carry groceries upstairs for their parents or handle basic household tasks their families used to do for free.
Nearly 500,000 New Yorkers are enrolled as personal care workers under this program.
That makes it the single largest job category in the entire state – bigger than retail, bigger than manufacturing, bigger than anything else.
The federal government picks up most of the tab.
Governor Hochul grew the state's share of Medicaid costs by 60% across four budgets while enrollment barely moved.
Albany built a half-million-person payroll on Washington's dime and called it healthcare.
The Union Dues Kicker That Makes It a Scandal
Here's where waste becomes corruption.
Albany is now unionizing those personal care workers – people whose paychecks flow almost entirely from federal Medicaid dollars.
Oz laid it out plainly on Monday: Washington funds the jobs, the jobs get unionized, and the dues flow straight back into Democrat political operations.
The union organizing those workers is 1199SEIU – nearly 450,000 healthcare workers across the East Coast, the largest local in the entire Service Employees International Union.
Its federal political action fund raised nearly $12 million in the 2023–2024 election cycle alone.
InfluenceWatch has described the union as a "government union in all but name" – and the record backs that up. In 1999, 1199SEIU spent $13 million lobbying to expand New York's Medicaid program. It poured money into the political committee tied to Governor Andrew Cuomo and helped bankroll the fundraising vehicle that Mayor de Blasio used to build his political operation.
The loop runs itself: federal dollars create Medicaid jobs, Medicaid jobs get unionized, dues fund Democrat campaigns, Democrat politicians expand Medicaid to create more jobs.
Your money. Their machine.
Oz Is Cutting the Power to the Machine
This isn't commentary. It's an active federal investigation.
In March 2026, Oz formally opened a probe into New York's Medicaid program and put Hochul on notice.
CMS identified New York as one of the states exploiting provider tax loopholes to push billions in Medicaid costs onto federal taxpayers – a practice the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is now shutting down.
Oz has overseen more than $50 billion in estimated federal healthcare spending reductions since taking over CMS.
He already withheld Medicaid funding from Minnesota over fraud.
New York is next.
Democrats spent decades building an empire with taxpayer money, wiring it into union infrastructure, and routing the dues back into their own campaigns.
The TV doctor they laughed at just walked into their machine room and started pulling breakers.
