But Swift may be in for her biggest career move yet.
And now Taylor Swift had a secret meeting about joining this blockbuster movie franchise.
Swift has meeting with Marvel
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the biggest movie franchise in Hollywood.
Beginning with 2008’s Iron Man, the MCU’s 33 films grossed over $30 billion.
But ever since 2019’s Avengers: End Game wrapped up the Infinity Stones story arc and killed off or wrote out several major characters, such as Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America, the MCU’s been sucking wind.
A lack of focus in storytelling, an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion characters, and the glut of content created superhero fatigue that culminated with 2023’s The Marvels becoming the biggest box office bomb in the franchise’s history.
There is no question Marvel needs to breathe new life into the MCU.
Kevin Feige is the producer who brought the MCU to life, and as Marvel Studios’ president since 2007, he runs the show.
Thanks to the MCU’s success, Feige is now the number one producer in Hollywood and can get a meeting with any talent he wants.
And what better way to juice the franchise than introducing Taylor Swift into the fold.
Insider Daniel Richtman reported that Swift had a “good meeting with Kevin Feige, and they are discussing a role in the MCU.”
Rumors abound about Swift and the MCU
Swift’s appearance in luxury box with the stars of the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film – which will introduce the X-Men characters Disney acquired in its $71 billion purchase of Fox studios – Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, as well as director Shawn Levy – at a Kansas City Chiefs-New York Jets game last fall ignited speculation that Swift was appearing in the film as Dazzler, an X-Men character who is a pop star singer with the mutant power to turn sound into hard light laser bolts.
Levy wouldn’t comment on the speculation that Swift would cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine.
“I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see,” Levy told reporters.
Reynolds – who stars as the irreverent “Merc with a Mouth” in Deadpool – also played coy.
“There’s so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced that Elvis is in the movie. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool,” Reynolds stated.
Swift is rumored to appear in the film, which is the latest installment in the MCU’s “multiverse saga.”
But insiders report that Swift won’t be playing Dazzler.
Rather, Swift will appear as herself.
The synopsis for Deadpool and Wolverine – which hits theaters July 26 – carries with the franchise’s tongue-in-cheek posture towards the superhero genre and movies in general.
“Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date – Deadpool & Wolverine,” the synopsis reads. “A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to – F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.”
And while Swift seems set to show up in Deadpool and Wolverine, fans will have to wait a little while longer for her to take on an official role in the MCU.
