Katy Perry got called out for one humiliating move caught on video that left people speechless

Katy Perry has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.

She thought she was being funny during her birthday celebration.

And Katy Perry got called out for one humiliating caught-on-video move that left people speechless.

The birthday cake disaster that went viral

Katy Perry celebrated her 41st birthday on October 25th during a stop on her Lifetimes tour.¹

What should have been a sweet moment turned into a cringe-worthy spectacle when Perry decided to throw her birthday cake at a staff member.

The incident was captured on video and posted to Perry's Instagram, but it was Katherine Jayne who brought the controversy to X with a viral post.²

Katherine claimed her mother was the baker who made Perry's birthday cake and expressed confusion and anger over the pop star's destructive behavior.

"My mom was the one that baked this cake, she was so excited about the opportunity to make a cake for Katy Perry and spent so long on it, I'm genuinely confused and upset as to why she would do this," Katherine wrote.³

The video shows Perry backstage in her concert gear, surrounded by her team as they sing "Happy Birthday" to her.

She blows out the candles, gives herself a little clap, then races across the backstage area and hurls the entire quarter sheet cake at a man wearing a headset.

The staff member dodges out of the way, and the cake splatters on the floor as Perry doubles over with laughter.

Her backup dancers then get on their hands and knees to eat pieces of the destroyed cake off the floor.

Katherine Jayne's viral callout raises questions

The X post from Katherine Jayne quickly racked up millions of views as people reacted with disgust to Perry's behavior.⁴

Some questioned why someone with Perry's wealth and status would waste food in such a cavalier manner.

"Please tell your mom her cake was beautiful, she put love into something special, and it deserved way more respect than that," one commenter wrote. "I'm sorry she had to see it treated like that."⁵

Others criticized the "cringe AF" nature of the stunt and questioned Perry's judgment.

However, Katherine's story came under scrutiny when she started promoting her Spotify music page in the same thread where she was supposedly defending her mother's hurt feelings.

Multiple users called her out, claiming her story about the baker was fabricated and she was using the controversy to drive traffic to her music.⁶

Whether Katherine Jayne's story is true or not, the video still shows Perry throwing a perfectly good cake at her staff.

This fits Perry's track record of entitled behavior

The cake-throwing incident is just the latest example of Katy Perry's pattern of entitled celebrity behavior that's been building for years.

Perry has been embroiled in multiple lawsuits over real estate deals that have painted her as someone who uses her wealth and power to bulldoze over regular people.

Her most notorious case involved an 85-year-old veteran named Carl Westcott who sold her his $15 million Montecito mansion in 2020.⁷

When Westcott tried to back out of the deal days later, claiming he was under the influence of painkillers when he signed, Perry took him to court.

She won the legal battle in 2023 and took possession of the home in 2024.

But Perry wasn't satisfied with just getting the house – she then sued the dying veteran for $6 million in damages for alleged lost rental income and property repairs.⁸

Westcott's son Chart called Perry's behavior "entitled celebrity behavior" and said she has "no sense of fair play, no empathy, zero empathy."⁹

The case was so outrageous it inspired proposed legislation called the PERRY Act, designed to protect elderly homeowners from predatory real estate deals.¹⁰

Perry also battled elderly Catholic nuns over a $14.5 million convent property in Los Angeles.

During one court appearance in 2018, 89-year-old Sister Catherine Rose Holzman collapsed and died after pleading publicly, "Katy Perry, please stop."¹¹

Perry's history shows a pattern of disrespecting others

The birthday cake incident fits perfectly with Perry's established pattern of treating regular people as expendable props in her celebrity lifestyle.

She's been accused of inappropriate behavior with male contestants on American Idol, including forcing an unwanted kiss on 19-year-old Benjamin Glaze in 2018.¹²

Perry also faced sexual assault allegations from model Josh Kloss, who claimed she pulled down his pants to expose his genitals at a party.¹³

Her track record in the courtroom shows someone who uses her wealth and legal team to crush anyone who gets in her way, even dying veterans and elderly nuns.

A slice of cake might be one thing, but the whole cake?

Now she's throwing cakes at her staff and laughing while they eat it off the floor like trained animals.

This isn't about having fun on her birthday – it's about a celebrity puppet who’s been conditioned to think regular people exist for her entertainment.

The woman who supposedly baked that cake put time, effort, and love into creating something special for Perry's celebration.

Perry's response was to turn it into a weapon and a joke, showing the same disregard for other people's work and dignity that she's displayed in court after court.

Whether Katherine Jayne's story is real or fake doesn't change what everyone can see in that video.

Katy Perry threw a tantrum, destroyed someone else's work, and treated her own staff like they should be grateful to eat cake off the floor.

That's not birthday fun – that's the behavior of someone who's completely lost touch with how normal people live.
