Don Jr Just Called Ted Cruz a Liar on Live TV and Cruz Has No Good Answer

Jun 19, 2026

Ted Cruz spent years calling out fake news – and Don Jr just accused him of spreading it.

Now Cruz is attacking Trump's historic Iran deal with a claim the president says is flat wrong.

And the three words Don Jr used to describe what Cruz is doing should end the senator's credibility on this issue.

Cruz Goes to the Daily Wire With a Loaded Claim

Cruz sat down with the Daily Wire on Wednesday and came out swinging.

He warned that Trump was getting "very poor advice" on the Iran Memorandum of Understanding – the 14-point ceasefire framework Trump signed at the Palace of Versailles while the rest of the world was still processing the fact that the war was over.

Cruz declared it "not remotely in America's interest for us to pay to rebuild" Iran's military capacity.

"History teaches that giving billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder us is a bad idea," Cruz told the Daily Wire.

He's not wrong about the Ayatollah's record.

Nearly 1,000 Americans have been murdered by the Iranian regime over 47 years.

But Cruz's core claim – that America is cutting a check to the mullahs – is the part Don Jr. blew apart.

Don Jr. Drops the Hammer

Donald Trump Jr. went straight to X after seeing Cruz's quote amplified by Daily Wire opinion editor Benjamin Domenech.

His response was brutal and specific.

"The only problem with this quote is that @tedcruz is lying thru his teeth about the deal," Trump Jr. wrote. "We're not giving them a cent and he knows that. Using fake news about the peace deal to undermine @realDonaldTrump is the opposite of MAGA."

Three words: lying thru his teeth.

Not mistaken. Not misinformed. Lying – and knowingly.

President Trump had already put this on the record before Cruz ever sat down with the Daily Wire.

On Truth Social, Trump called the claim that the U.S. was paying Iran $300 million directly "Fake News, put out by the Dumocrats" – and stated plainly: "Iran has agreed to never have a Nuclear Weapon!"

What the MOU Actually Says

The full text of the MOU is now public, and it confirms what Trump said.

The $300 billion reconstruction fund is real – but the text commits "the United States of America, with regional partners" to develop the plan.

Not American taxpayers writing checks to Tehran.

Regional partners. Gulf money. Not Treasury money.

Trump said it plainly at a press conference: "We are not investing in it and we do not have a fund."

JD Vance confirmed the same structure – the fund flows from sanctions relief and Gulf partners, not from Washington.

The deal also immediately reopens the Strait of Hormuz, delivers a permanent ceasefire, and locks Iran into a commitment to never develop nuclear weapons.

Cruz is now running a talking point that matches the Democrat version of this story – not the president's.

The Pattern Cruz Is Running

This isn't a new play.

Washington insiders who get cut out of a deal don't say they were cut out.

They say the deal is dangerous.

Cruz was not in the room at Versailles. He was not part of the 60-day negotiation. He has no intelligence briefing on the final structure of the fund.

What he has is a Daily Wire interview and a claim that runs directly against what the president, the vice president, and the text of the document all say.

That is the family's way of saying: you know exactly what you're doing, and we see it.

Cruz can find legitimate things to press on during the 60-day final negotiation – enforcement mechanisms, enrichment limits, what happens if Iran walks.

But he chose to open with a claim that American taxpayers are directly funding Iran's rebuild, and the president's own son lit him up for it in front of the entire MAGA world.

If you're going to challenge Trump, you need receipts Cruz didn't have.
