Chipotle Took Over Abbey Road Studios and Turned Vegetables Into a Full Band

Oct 8, 2026

The Beatles recorded their final album inside Abbey Road Studios.

Chipotle just booked that same studio to record a song made entirely out of vegetables.

One of the horns in that session used an avocado pit as its mouthpiece.

Abbey Road Welcomes a Band Built From Jalapeños and Corn

Chipotle partnered with the London Vegetable Orchestra to record an original song called "From Ground to Sound" inside Abbey Road's Studio Two.

Every sound on the track comes from a vegetable turned into a working instrument.

Corn became a set of flutes.

Jalapeños became trumpets.

Bell peppers and an avocado pit became a horn the team nicknamed "Horne Pepper."

Lettuce supplied the percussion, and onion carried the bass line.

Getting there took three months of trial and error, with dozens of failed attempts along the way.

A vegetable only holds the shape and moisture it needs to work as an instrument for less than a day, so the team had to harvest, build, and record against a constant clock.

London Vegetable Orchestra member Patrick Johns said the hardest part of the job is not forcing a vegetable into a sound it was never going to make.

"No two vegetables ever behave exactly the same way," Johns said, adding that the craft is learning to "find the sound that's already there" instead.

Beacon Street Studios handled the actual recording, with KIDS directing the creative concept behind it.

Why Chipotle Wants You to Hear What a Vegetable Sounds Like

Brand identity is practically Chipotle's whole pitch, fresher and more real than anything else in fast food.

A song is an unusual way to make that argument, but it is not a new one for this company.

Chipotle teamed up with Wu-Tang Clan's RZA back in 2017 on a project called SAVOR.WAVS, built around the same basic idea of turning the chain's 51 real ingredients into music.

That ingredient count has grown since then, and Chipotle now points to 53 real ingredients as the foundation of everything it serves.

Chipotle first teased "From Ground to Sound" in August as part of a wider 100 Creators campaign, the same push that introduced menu items like Pollo Asado and Chili Lime Chips.

Fernando Machado took over as Chipotle's chief brand officer in April, and this project is one of the first big swings he has taken in the role.

"Real food has always been at the center of Chipotle," Machado said, explaining the company wanted to take that idea "in a completely new direction" by giving the brand a new signature sound.

Machado argued that "any brand can release a song," but what sets this one apart, in his words, is that its "instruments, sounds, and story are all rooted in what we do every day."

Icaro Doria's agency, KIDS, builds campaigns around making ordinary things feel strange enough to notice again.

"Very few have ever stopped to ask what they sound like," Doria said of the vegetables sitting in most people's kitchens.

That is a clever answer to a problem every fast food chain is fighting: convincing a skeptical customer that the ingredients on the menu are actually what the company says they are.

A viral music video and a song on Spotify will not settle that argument on its own.

But watching a jalapeño get turned into a working trumpet is a harder thing to dismiss than another TV commercial claiming the same thing in words.

"From Ground to Sound" is now streaming on Spotify and Apple Music, with the full music video posted to Chipotle's YouTube channel.
