Boy who lost ball to Phillies Karen spoke up and the internet is amazed by what happened next

Have you seen “Phillies Karen”?

The belligerent woman who screamed at a father until he surrendered his young son’s home run ball became an instant viral villain.

Well, now the boy who lost his prize to the Phillies Karen just spoke up and the internet is amazed by what happened next.

The boy speaks out about losing his home run ball

Nine-year-old Lincoln Feltwell finally got to tell his side of the story about the most unfair moment at a baseball game this year.

NBC 10 Philadelphia sat down with Lincoln, his sister, and his dad Drew for their first interview since the viral incident at the Phillies game.

Reporter Kelsey Kushner asked Lincoln the question everyone wanted answered – how did he really feel about having to give up that Harrison Bader home run ball just seconds after his dad placed it in his glove?

The boy’s response was brutally honest.

“Um, I wasn’t very happy that we had to give it to her, but we can’t win,” Lincoln said. “She was gonna get it anyways.”

Let that sink in for a moment.

A nine-year-old boy understood something that apparently escaped a grown woman – sometimes bullies get their way through sheer aggression.

The father reveals what really happened during the confrontation

Drew Feltwell explained the impossible position this woman put him in with her screaming tantrum in front of hundreds of people.

“I’m literally leaning back as she’s in my face, yelling and yelling and yelling, and I pretty much just wanted her to go away,” Drew told NBC 10.

The dad said he “jumped out of my skin” when the woman got in his face and demanded he fork over the ball.

He faced what he called a “fork-in-the-road” moment.

“Either, you know, do something I was probably going to regret, or, be dad and show him how to de-escalate the situation,” Drew explained. “So that’s where I went.”

Drew said the woman was “so adamant and loud and yelling and persistent” that he decided to end the confrontation by handing over the ball.

“There was hundreds of people, you know, just staring,” he said. “And like I said, she was very, very, very close. And I’m, you know, I’m dad of the family, so I didn’t want to do something I regret.”

What this really reveals about American civility

Here’s what makes this whole thing so maddening.

A father had to choose between standing his ground and protecting his family from an unhinged woman who thought screaming would get her what she wanted.

And you know what? It worked.

Drew Feltwell made the right choice as a father, but the fact that he had to make that choice at all tells you everything about where we are as a society.

This wasn’t some life-or-death situation – this was a baseball at a kid’s game.

But “Phillies Karen” turned it into a public spectacle because she couldn’t handle the idea that a child might get to keep something she wanted.

The woman’s behavior after getting the ball revealed her true character.

She ended up screaming at another fan before flipping off her entire section of the stadium when they booed her.

That’s who she really is – someone who bullies families and then gets mad when people call her out for it.

At least there’s some justice in this world

The good news is that Lincoln didn’t go home empty-handed.

Harrison Bader heard what happened and presented the boy with a signed bat after the game.

The Miami Marlins also hooked Lincoln up with a huge gift bag.

Sometimes decent people step up when they see a kid get a raw deal.

But Lincoln’s honest admission – “we can’t win” – shows this nine-year-old learned a hard lesson about how some adults behave when they think they can get away with it.

Drew Feltwell showed his son how to de-escalate a situation and avoid unnecessary conflict.

That’s good parenting.

But the fact that “Phillies Karen” put a father in that position in the first place says everything about the kind of person who thinks screaming at families is acceptable behavior.

Lincoln handled the whole thing better than the adult who caused it.

And that tells you everything you need to know about both of them.
