Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to fact check Chris Cuomo and it instantly backfired

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez created another self-inflicted wound.

This one said a lot about the state of the modern Democrat Party.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to fact check Chris Cuomo and it instantly backfired.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accuses Israel of war crimes

The modern Democrat Party is so consumed by anti-Semitism that elected officials will reflexively defend Islamic terror groups against Israel.

Israeli intelligence pulled off a jaw dropping operation when beepers packed with explosives killed or wounded hundreds of Hezbollah commanders and officers.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded by calling the Israelis war criminals for this attack.

Chris Cuomo responded by reminding Ocasio-Cortez that the targets were members of a terrorist group trying to wipe Israel off the map.

“Why don’t you mention the pagers were on members of a terrorist organization that is committed to destroying Israel? Would you have been defending al qaeda when America was lighting them up in Iraq?” Cuomo asked Ocasio-Cortez.

Ocasio-Cortez responded on social media with a post quoting the Department of Defense Law of War Manual which banned U.S. forces from using landmines or booby traps.

Ocasio-Cortez’s fact check falls apart

Chris Cuomo responded to Ocasio-Cortez on his NewsNation television show.

Cuomo pointed out that U.S. rules of engagement don’t apply to Israel.

Right off the bat, Ocasio-Cortez compared apples to oranges.

“Okay. One, Israel is not one of the United States, so they don’t follow our laws or rules. Second, if the representative was suggesting by that comparison that the United States should therefore not support Israel, good luck with that,” Cuomo stated.

Cuomo then went into detail to prove that Ocasio-Cortez was wrong.

“And then here’s what really bothers me about this salvo. She’s dead wrong. This is why you don’t accuse and then go in search of a crime. It says it is prohibited in all circumstances to use booby traps, and that’s what you would call putting little explosive devices in a pager,” Cuomo continued.

Cuomo pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez left out an important part of the U.S. rules of engagement.

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t post the section of the manual that explained the use of booby traps and mines are subject to the same rules that govern the use of other weapons.

“That part, this is this is the right context in the form of apparently harmless portable objects like a pager that are specifically designed and constructed to contain explosive material, but here’s the part that she left out. Oddly, the next section after the one she cited, the use of mines, booby traps, other devices is subject to the same rules and principles that govern the use of other weapons to conduct attacks,” Cuomo declared.

Cuomo told viewers that meant they couldn’t be used indiscriminately.

“What does that mean? The rules include a prohibition against the indiscriminate use of mines, booby traps, and other devices. Indiscriminate,” Cuomo added.

And in this case – while not precluding death and injury to innocent bystanders like several children reportedly killed in so-called collateral damage – the use of the booby-trapped pagers was anything but indiscriminate since the Israelis only sent them to known Hezbollah terrorists.
