Joe Biden got the bad news he was dreading.
It involved his son Hunter.
A jury convicted Hunter Biden, and Donald Trump had this jaw-dropping response.
Jury finds Hunter Biden guilty on all counts
A federal jury convicted Hunter Biden on three counts of making false statements on a background check form when purchasing a handgun.
Hunter Biden falsely claimed he wasn’t addicted to drugs or alcohol in the 2018 firearms transaction.
The Biden Department of Justice only prosecuted Hunter Biden because a federal judge threw out the sweetheart plea because it was unconstitutional.
Joe Biden released a statement after the verdict came down, saying he still supported his son and would let the legal process play out.
“As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today. So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery,” Biden’s statement began.
“As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that,” Biden added.
It was easy for Biden to say that because this type of rarely prosecuted charge will likely end in probation.
Biden also didn’t really convince anyone when he said he wouldn’t pardon Hunter Biden if he received jail time.
Trump’s response
The Trump campaign slammed the trial as small potatoes and part of a greater cover-up of the Biden family’s alleged influence peddling scheme.
“This trial has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia, and Ukraine. Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is all coming to an end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit,” Trump campaign national spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt declared.
Last July, a judge rejected a plea deal that would see Hunter Biden plead guilty to minor tax charges and receive no jail time.
The gun charges would vanish if Hunter Biden stayed on his best behavior.
And Hunter Biden would also get lifetime immunity from future prosecution.
This plea deal came after IRS whistleblowers revealed the Biden Department of Justice blocked investigators from pursuing lines of inquiry that could implicate Joe Biden in an illegal foreign lobbying scheme and also allowed the statute of limitations on the most serious tax charges against Hunter Biden to expire.
The plea deal was more properly seen as a way to shut down the investigation into Joe Biden because once Hunter Biden received immunity, all avenues of investigation would close off.
Hunter Biden’s prosecution actually showed there was a double standard of justice that Democrats expected to benefit from because the Biden Department of Justice’s original plan was to give Hunter Biden a complete pass.
